I invited Federer, Nadal and Djokovic to my farewell party. Nobody has contacted me yet.

Dominic Thiem said during an interview with Heute

After his maiden US Open title, Thiem suffered a wrist injury the next year, and, as a consequence, he remained on the sidelines, which ended up affecting his rankings. His wrist injury was one of the reasons behind his announcing his retirement at the age of just 31.

I want to do less. I want to reduce my life, give something back to the planet.

Dominic Thiem told Heute

When asked about his coaching career, Thiem said that he has “traveled enough” but may start to give his help from Austria. He wants to help the young players as much as he can so that they follow his path. For him, tennis is a “lonely sport” and so he enjoys playing football.

Thiem was last seen in action at the US Open. He lost in the first round to 13th seed Ben Shelton and ended his Grand Slam career. He is currently ranked World No. 275 and is 2–8 on the ATP Tour, without a title this season. Overall, the former World No. 3 has 17 ATP titles and the US Open win in 2020 made him the first Austrian to win the title at Flushing Meadows. Apart from the US Open victory, Thiem has also reached three Grand Slam finals.
