The 2025 NFL Draft is almost upon the community – the event taking place in just about two weeks in Green Bay, Wisconsin. As the dates get closer and closer, there has been an increased amount of discussion on the same. The topics range from the individual players like Cam Ward or Abdul Carter, what each team needs, and the external elements in play like Deion Sanders.
In a recent episode of Get Up, which aired on Friday, former players Domonique Foxworth and Kevin Clark had one of those discussions. The key point of the segment was Cam Ward, who’s reportedly going numero uno to the Tennessee Titans.
During the episode, Clark sneakily tried to bring in Patrick Mahomes‘ name to create a connection between the new prospect and the player. It was also an attempt by the broadcaster to gain a clickable breakout video.
With a serious face, Kevin Clark made a very bold take about Cam Ward.
As a prospect, [Cam Ward] is the closest thing to Patrick Mahomes since Patrick Mahomes.
Kevin Clark noted
However, Clark was immediately called out by co-panelist Domonique Foxworth. Foxworth claimed that Clark has been in the industry for some time and learned how to do good TV. He added that bringing up a name like Patrick Mahomes leads to expectations of a great quarterback with immense potential. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that Kevin Clark is not the first one to put Cam Ward and Patrick Mahomes in the same line.
You tried to slip in that ‘as a prospect’ line. This man has learned how to do TV with the best of ‘em. Bring up Patrick Mahomes name if you can at any point in the proceedings. The problem with making the Patrick Mahomes comparison is you know what that conjures in our minds. I know Patrick Mahomes as prospect wasn’t a number one overall pick. However, when you start saying that name we have expectations of being one of the greatest quarterbacks we’ve ever seen.
Domonique Foxworth quipped
The social media team quickly jumped in on. The Get Up social media posted the video with their beloved eyeballs emoji. In one way or another, Kevin Clark really did get a massive number of eyes on his comment.
What kind of player could Cam Ward become in the NFL? 👀

Mel Kiper Jr. breaks down why Cam Ward is the Titans’ ideal QB prospect
The Tennessee Titans are widely expected to select Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ward’s impressive 2024 season at the Hurricanes, where he threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, has positioned him as a top prospect.

ESPN Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. broke down why the Tennessee Titans are gunning for Ward over other quarterback options. Kiper Jr asserted that Titans’ head coach Brian Callahan has made his quarterback expectations clear.
Mel Kiper Jr., speaking to a team reporter, Jim Wyatt, referenced an interview by Brian Callahan where he spoke of quarterbacks and how they are wired. In the interview, Callahan noted that certain quarterbacks react to certain situations differently. He brought up Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow and Washington Commanders’ rookie Jayden Daniels to further exemplify his stance.
And he said: When everybody in the stadium knows you’re throwing the ball, can that guy come through? He even said in that interview: I want a guy who can be elite. I want a guy who can be great. He even said, ‘just good wasn’t enough’.
Mel Kiper Jr. said
The draft class of 2025 has long been criticized for the lack of better quarterback options. Apart from Ward, Colorado Buffaloes’ Shedeur Sanders is one of the top prospects. However, his draft stock has taken a huge dip in the last month, even beyond the top ten margin, despite teams with immediate need at QB. Several concerns are clouding the son of former Dallas Cowboys legend Deion Sanders, including his ball release timings.
The other quarterbacks are Jalen Milroe, Jaxson Dart, and Quinn Ewers. None of them are expected to be drafted in the top ten. Ewers is seen as a second-round draftee at best. Considering this, Cam Ward seems to be the Titans’ elite answer for now.
