The US Elections have determined that Donald Trump will be the next President. For NBA head coach Steve Kerr, that did not come as good news after he led the basketball endorsements for current Vice President Kamala Harris.
His endorsement at the Democratic National Convention took the sporting world by storm as he enacted Stephen Curry‘s night-night celebration to rile up voters. But it ultimately came to no good once Trump raced ahead to win.
The Golden State Warriors head coach was not going to take the outcome well. But in spite of that, reporters had to know how he was feeling. Prior to the game against the Boston Celtics, the multiple-time NBA title winning coach said:
This was a sarcastic reply to what transpired after the 2020 elections. Back then, Donald Trump cried foul on the results from certain states. This time, prior to the elections and as the voting was in process, he and the Republicans cried that illegal immigrants were being allowed to vote.

“I believe in democracy. The American people have spoken and voted for Trump. I want him to do well the next four years, I want our country to do well.”

But all that talk suddenly came to a halt once the results were evident. Steve Kerr‘s words were a retort to those very claims, as he tried to explain that had the elections gone the other way, Trump and his supporters would have brought up the topics again.

The head coach, though, was not done with his jabs when talking about Donald Trump. When asked about how his Golden State Warriors would face the Boston Celtics, he sent out another zinger to the soon-to-be President.
Even though his endorsee Kamala Harris lost, Kerr was not willing to back down when given a chance. The Boston Celtics are the new benchmark in the NBA. Winning against them is better for the league. That is what he tried to channel into his team.
Steve Kerr asked if he spoke with his team today to reset after the election results:

His players reciprocated with a 118-112 win over the NBA champions. A small win for the 59-year-old coach, even though he suffered a major loss on the national front.
