Donald Trump once again made some huge comments regarding Canada and China. While speaking to the reporters recently, the US President claimed a threat to Ice Hockey if a deal between Canada and China takes place.

Earlier in January, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney visited Beijing. During this, he agreed to a “strategic partnership” that includes tariff reductions on specific goods.

This is, however, not a full trade agreement (FTA). While addressing the reporters in Ottawa, Carney expressed that Canada has “no intention” of pursuing a comprehensive FTA with China. He would refer to trade items such as agriculture, fish products and Chinese-made Electric Vehicles (EVs).

On January 24, Trump threatened Canada. In a post on his Truth Social account, the US President claimed that his country will impose a 100 per cent tariff on all Canadian products if their deal with China went through.

On Sunday, Trump would comment on this deal once again. In a conversation with reporters on Air Force One, the 79-year-old said China will “take over” Canada if the deal happens, and the first thing they will do is end ice hockey.

We don’t want China to take over Canada. And if they make the deal that [President Xi] is looking to make, China will take over Canada. And the first thing they’re going to do is end ice hockey.

Donald Trump said

Ice hockey is one of the national sports of Canada. Last year, during the 4 Nations Face Off, there were severe tensions between Canada and the USA after Trump hiked some tariffs and made some bold comments regarding Canada becoming the 51st state of the United States.

Trump would later catch strays as Canada defeated the US in the final of the 4 Nations Face Off. An overtime winner from Connor McDavid extended Canada’s dominant run in international ice hockey tournaments.

Before running for the office and getting involved in politics, Trump was in the business field. In 1968, he was employed at the Trump Management, a real estate company of his father.

In 1971, they would move to Manhattan. His father would become the chairman and name him as the president. He would then start using the Trump Organization.

In 2015, Trump announced his candidacy for the 2016 election. He would end up beating Hillary Clinton and be sworn in as the President in January 2017.

Trump, who had a close relationship with the late Steinbrenner, would share an old letter on Sunday. The letter dated February 23, 1989, from the Yankees’ office in Tampa, Florida, sees the former Yankees owner urging Trump to run for President one day.

Saw you on Morton Downey the other night. He is a friend, and I watch his show regularly. You were great! You tell it like it is. It is like I said to Stephen, you should run for President some day and get the whole damn thing straightened out. You were tremendous on the show.

The letter from George Steinbrenner to Donald Trump read

Trump was in attendance at Yankee Stadium on the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York. During this, he would issue a battle cry for the Yankees and reminisce about his friendship with the late Steinbrenner.

He would become the third sitting President, after George W. Bush in 2001 and Warren G. Harding in 1923, to attend a Yankees game.
