On Sunday, Team USA celebrated their 3rd Olympic gold medal in men’s ice hockey as it defeated arch-rivals Canada in the gold medal game. After the game, Donald Trump had a phone call with the team and congratulated them.

The USA were looking to end a 46-year drought and bring home another gold medal in men’s ice hockey. Since their famous win in 1980, they lost twice in the gold medal match against Canada in 2002 and then in 2010.

The meeting on Sunday marked the first meeting between these two teams since the 4 Nations Face-Off Championship game last February. In that game, Canada came out on top through an overtime winner from Connor McDavid and broke the American hearts.

This game turned out to be another intense clash between the two North American countries. A snipe shot from Cale Makar in the second period cancelled out a stunning solo goal from the USA’s Matt Boldy in the first period.

In the 3-on-3 overtime period, Jack Hughes turned out to be the hero. A few days after his brother, Quinn Hughes, scored an overtime winner against Sweden in the quarter final, he stepped up and scored the golden goal.

The goal of the younger Hughes sparked off the celebrations on Sunday. Social media would erupt as America took down Canada in ice hockey and grabbed the gold medal.

One person who was the standout performer in this game was goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. The goaltender faced 42 shots and made 41 saves, including an incredible stop to deny Devon Toews from a very close range.

As people from different aspects of the country started congratulating the team, President Donald Trump would call the team. While speaking with the team in the locker room, he would praise Hellebuyck and the others and call them “unbelievable.”

Your goalie played not bad… I have seen hockey goalies have slightly worse games. Unbelievable, and you were all unbelievable.

The U.S. President would later invite the team to the State of the Union Speech on Tuesday. After the team accepted the invite, the 79-year-old claimed that he would send the military to pick them up. He also mentioned that there would be medals for them.

This win saw Team USA complete a double in ice hockey over Canada. A few days before the men’s team won the gold, the women’s team also defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime. Following a late equalizer from captain Hiliary Knight, Megan Keller would score in overtime to give the women’s team their 3rd gold medal as well.

FBI Director Kash Patel found himself in hot waters after celebrating with Team USA in locker room

Team USA climbed back to the top of the ice hockey mountain on Sunday as they defeated Canada 2-1 after overtime. Following their win, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director, Kash Patel, found himself in hot water as he celebrated the victory with the team.

In a video making rounds on social media, Patel was seen wearing a Team USA jersey. In the locker room, he would chug down some beers while laughing and dancing with the team. A few moments later, Matthew Tkachuk would drape a gold medal around his neck.

His actions caused an uproar on social media as fans criticized him. The 45-year-old would later address the backlash and claim that he was invited by the team in the locker room.

For the very concerned media – yes, I love America and was extremely humbled when my friends, the newly minted Gold Medal winners on Team USA, invited me into the locker room to celebrate this historic moment with the boys- Greatest country on earth and greatest sport on earth.
