With one of the most crucial US Presidential elections approaching, the conversation in the States revolves around it. Recently, boxing heavyweight legend Mike Tyson shared his thoughts on the election. Mike Tyson has always been blunt about his opinions on the ex-POTUS. As such, he even declared his support for the Republican candidate, Donald Trump.
On several occasions, he has openly pledged his allegiance to Trump. It seems that ‘Iron Mike’ has done it again. During a recent podcast episode, the boxing legend came in to talk about several intriguing topics. It ranged from his fight against Jake Paul to his status as a global icon. During that, the conversation took a turn toward the US Presidential elections, where Tyson asserted his belief in Trump winning it.
(Donald) Trump's gonna win... It would be nice if he win... He's just a good man you know. Listen, I don't agree with all his sh*t like nobody agrees with all my sh*t, but you know they're good people. No one's perfect in this world...Mike Tyson via IT IS WHAT IT IS (Check from 39:57)
Donald Trump and Mike Tyson share a great camaraderie which is quite evident given their frequent praises about each other. Not only that, but both of them even visit several fighting events together. Most recently, they reunited at a UFC event.
Interestingly, Tyson is not the only one who has advocated for Trump to win the upcoming elections. As such, Iron Mike’s upcoming Jake Paul also endorsed Trump, despite slamming the NYC crowd for being Democrats recently.
As of now, Mike Tyson is focused on his upcoming fight against the ‘Problem Child’. The fight, which was postponed due to Tyson’s health issues, has been rescheduled and sanctioned as a professional bout. The 58-year-old Tyson has recovered and is eager to get back in the ring. It will be interesting to see if Trump attends the fight, especially since it’s only a few weeks after the election.
When Donald Trump stood up for Mike Tyson
Mike Tyson has an interesting history with Donald Trump. In the early days of his boxing career, he fought at Trump’s hotels over a dozen times. However, their friendship grew stronger when the ex-POTUS came in and supported Tyson after he was convicted of a crime in 1992.
In July 1991, Desiree Washington, a beauty pageant winner, accused Mike Tyson of ra*ing her. In February 1992, Tyson was found guilty of ra*ing Washington. Judge Patricia J. Gifford sentenced him to 10 years in jail but suspended the last four years of the sentence. Tyson was released in March 1995.
Donald Trump appeared to be upset with the conviction. As such, he even suggested that the court should have imposed a penalty that would require Tyson to keep fighting. With that, he could donate millions of dollars to rape victims as well instead of making him sit in jail for 6 years.
I like Donald Trump. Donald Trump stood up for me when they were talking bad about me... 'I don't want no r*pist campaigning for me.' He could've easily said that. He talked about the reverence in me. So I was like f*ck, I wasn't going to say anything disrespectful about him either...Mike Tyson via I Am Rapaport Stereo
With their friendship sometimes in jeopardy, Tyson continues to support the ex-POTUS. Moreover, he often backed Trump’s successful presidential campaigns as he recently did again. Despite growing up in very different social environments, Trump and Tyson shared many common attributes. As such, he won’t consider anyone else for president as long as Trump is around.
