The Los Angeles Dodgers visited the White House on Monday before taking on the Washington Nationals. As the 2024 World Series winners, they were invited to celebrate their historic moment with US President Donald Trump. During this, Trump heaped huge praise on the 2024 National League MVP, Shohei Ohtani.
The visit of the Dodgers to the White House came a few days after the Department of Defense (DoD) controversy regarding MLB Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson. The DoD page of him was removed following the Trump administration’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) purge. After a massive public outrage, the page was restored.
While some fans were not happy with the Dodgers accepting the invite, the team followed through their plan and paid him a visit. During this visit Trump spoke about the 50-50 milestone of Ohtani and shook hands with him. Before this, Trump joked about Ohtani and expressed that he looked like a “movie star.“
Ohtani become the first player in MLB history to record 50 home runs and have 50 stolen bases in the regular season. He thus founded the 50-50 club. He accomplished this feat in a game against the Miami Marlins where he wen 6-for-6 with 3 home runs.
He became the first ever member of the 50-50 club. Hitting 54 home runs and 59 steals, an accomplishment unparalleled in 149 years of Major League Baseball. Think of that, that’s just incredible.

Donald Trump rubs salt on wound of Boston Red Sox with Mookie Betts trade during White House visit
During the Los Angeles Dodgers’ White House visit and meeting with Donald Trump, the Boston Red Sox caught a massive stray. The US President spoke on the trade regarding Mookie Betts and claimed he was right to think that it was not a good trade.

Betts made a huge name for himself in the American League with the Red Sox. He was part of the 2018 team who beat the Dodgers in the World Series. However, in 2020, the Boston-based outfit made a surprising trade.
They would give away their All-Star in exchange of Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs and Connor Wong. The latter is the only one still in Boston. Whereas, Betts won the World Series in his first season with the team in 2020. After shaking hands with him, Trump spoke on the trade.
I don’t want to say I watched him when he was in Boston, but I did. I didn’t think that was a particularly good trade when they made it, and I happened to be right.

Since his move to LA, Betts has earned 4 more All-Star appearances and claimed two more World Series rings. As for the Red Sox, the team have struggled in recent years and have failed to make the postseason in each of their last 3 seasons.
