Dana White’s relationship with the current President of the United States, Donald Trump, is as strong as it ever was. During a recent interview with former Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler, White immediately answered a sudden incoming call directly from Trump. Both hosts were left surprised and couldn’t believe it was truly a personal phone call directly coming from the President.

Since then, the video instantly went viral, further confirming and highlighting the exceptionally close relationship shared between the President and White. A few weeks ago, the UFC boss revealed he would be flying personally to Trump to finalize plans for the White House event.

The hype surrounding the potential card is massive, with top stars like Jon Jones and Conor McGregor showing strong interest. Both legendary fighters have re-entered the official testing pool, and White has already vouched firmly for the ‘Notorious’. White worked closely with athletic commissions, implementing unified rules of MMA that completely shifted how the sport was governed. By enforcing safety measures and marketing strategies, he changed the image of UFC from a brutal, barbaric spectacle into a mainstream, respected sporting platform. In 2016, the Fertitta brothers officially sold the UFC, marking one of the biggest transactions in sports.

The company was purchased for approximately four billion dollars, cementing UFC’s place as a global sports powerhouse. In a recent interview, the popular MMA promoter revealed how he almost thought his job as the UFC CEO was over following the agreement. 

Lorenzo wanted to sell it and I didn’t and Lorenzo was like I’m done, ‘I can’t do it anymore.’…We own a lot of different companies together, me and the Fertitta brothers. So, I just figured, ‘What’s next?’ And they were like, ‘Nobody’s gonna buy this if you don’t stay’. In hindsight it’s the greatest thing ever.

Since then, the UFC has grown into a global powerhouse, recording record-breaking pay-per-views with historic events like McGregor-Mayweather. Stars like Khabib Nurmagomedov, Israel Adesanya, and Jon Jones helped push the company into mainstream prominence.

The latest deal with TKO Holdings gave White not only security for UFC but also the opportunity to expand into boxing. White announced his brand-new boxing promotion, which aims to bring mega fights and further revolutionize combat sports entertainment.

In just a few months, the highly anticipated inaugural event will be promoted, featuring pound-for-pound greats Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez. The Crawford versus Canelo super-fight is expected to shatter records, marking one of the most significant bouts ever.
