On Sunday, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director Kash Patel found himself under the spotlight after he celebrated with the U.S. men’s ice hockey team in the locker room. President Donald Trump reportedly did not like this actions of Patel.
In the gold medal game, Team USA locked horns with Canada on the final day of the 2026 Milano Cortina. This was the first meeting between the two countries since the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off Championship game in which Canada emerged as 3-2 winners after overtime.
The Americans struck first and took the lead in the first period through Matt Boldy. Canada would level the scores in the second period through Cale Makar. The game would go into overtime just like the 2010 Olympics gold medal game.
In the 3-on-3 OT period, Jack Hughes stole the headlines with the golden goal. This saw the United States claim their first Olympic gold medal in men’s ice hockey since 1980.

He would also dance to the song “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” by the late Toby Keith. A few moments later, Matthew Tkachuk would take off his medal and drape it across the neck of the FBI director.

This win of America came on a special day as well. 46 years ago, on February 22, 1980, Team USA defeated the dominant Soviet Union 4-3.
They would then go on to beat Finland and clinch an Olympic gold medal in ice hockey. Their win over the Soviet Union was later dubbed the “Miracle on Ice.” 46 years after this game, Team USA took home the gold medal in ice hockey once again.
