President Donald Trump has been involved in the Washington Commanders’ efforts to build a new stadium, which will move them back to the Capital.

He initially threatened to halt progress unless the franchise changed its name back to the Redskins. Once the ownership made its intent clear that the new name would stick, it seems the President backed off.

The $3.8 billion deal to return to Washington was completed, with the new arena down the road from the Capitol. It came across as if Trump had moved his demands aside to help the city get its team back.

Then their fans were in for a rude awakening when it was reported that Donald Trump wants the Commanders’ ownership to name their upcoming stadium after him.

It was his way of letting them know that he played a major part in the deal. The President, in his efforts to connect with the franchise and its fans, decided to appear at Northwest Stadium for their game against the Detroit Lions.

As soon as he appeared on the jumbotron, the crowd, consisting of both Commanders and Lions’ fans, booed him. The President kept waving, and his entourage kept clapping, but the boos did not stop.

Since this was the franchise’s annual ‘Salute to Service’ game, Trump took the chance to enlist troops into the U.S. military. A fresh round of boos greeted him as he was reading from the dossier.

It could be either the way he is running the country or his demand to see his name attached to the franchise; fans were not happy and made sure he heard their feelings about him.

Donald Trump makes his sports broadcasting debut with FOX

This game between the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions was perfect timing for Donald Trump‘s appearance. This game was to be broadcast on FOX Sports.

Since they are the only NFL network partner having a good relationship with the 47th President, it made sense for him to appear not just at the game, but also in their broadcast booth.

As the game was going on and the Commanders were driving up the field, Trump joined Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma inside their booth.

There were more than 8 and a half minutes left in the third quarter when the former real estate magnate talked about Jayden Daniels and his injury, and also Marcus Mariota.

Then, as the home team snapped the ball on a 2nd down, Trump commented on how the running back managed to get a few yards. He then joked with Albert and Vilma about doing both their jobs at the same time.

Amon-Ra St. Brown breaks out the Donald Trump dance after touchdown

When President Donald Trump was in the FOX Sports broadcast booth, the game was well and truly over for the home side. They were trailing by 22 points as the Lions punched them in the gut from the very 1st quarter.

They scored 2 touchdowns in that period to pile the pressure on the Commanders. It is possible that when the President saw the second of those, he knew it was not going to be the home team’s day.

On a 3rd and 1, QB Jared Goff did not waste time and torpedoed the ball to star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown. As the latter caught the ball off his slant route, he noticed there were two Commanders defenders ready to tackle him.

He slipped between the two and extended his arms over the goal line to cement the game’s second touchdown. When he got up, he pointed to Donald Trump’s suite and re-enacted his famous dance.
