The U.S. will elect its 47th president in November, but before that, presidential candidate Donald Trump has plans to catch a football game or two. According to reports, Trump might make an appearance at the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide game on September 28th.

After Joe Biden pulled out his name, Donald Trump contests against US Vice President Kamala Harris. Per reports by political commentator Mark Halperin, Trump has shown his inclination towards attending the Alabama vs Georgia game. It is assumed that the Presidential candidate’s attendance will help him connect to a wider audience, given America’s youth has always shown much interest in sports, especially football.

However, this won’t be the first time Donald Trump has attended a college football game. The 45th President of the United States previously attended the 2017 BCS National Championship game between the Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide, where Alabama won 26-23 in overtime. Although Georgia remains one of the stronger teams, their recent matchups with Alabama make the upcoming game even more exciting for fans.

American football has been in the spotlight recently due to a significant increase in viewership, partly thanks to pop singer Taylor Swift’s involvement with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. While Swift is often seen at NFL games, the Grammy Award-winning artist has a contentious history with Donald Trump.

Concerns over Donald Trump’s safety at the Alabama vs. Georgia game

While news of Donald Trump attended the game hit the papers, recent events might change his plans. The ALGOP Chairman John Wahl raised his concerns over Trump’s safety after the alleged assassination attempt on Trump at a golf course in Florida. Should he attend the match, a fair warning has been given to the spectators.

Wahl stated that attending the match was something the US presidential candidate had been planning for a long time. However, he raised an eyebrow to the required logistics, considering a large venue harboring tens and thousands of people. He posed a question on the possibilities of the presence of security at the right place, right time.

As a word of caution, retired Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper said that the fans planning to attend the match should be prepared for longer wait times and enhanced security.

The authorities concerned take the situation seriously, considering this marked the second assassination attempt on Trump in two months. The Bryant-Denny Stadium is set to host the game in Tuscaloosa at 6:30 p.m. local or 7:30 p.m. EDT.
