Francisco Lindor has once again found his name trending on social media. An MLB insider recently expressed that US President Donald Trump caused a rift between him and Brandon Nimmo in the New York Mets clubhouse.

The Mets’ 2025 season could be divided into two halves. The first half saw them start strong and were once the best team in the league with a 45-24 record. Things however, took a dramatic turn for them in the final 2 and half months.

The team suffered a major dip in form and went on long losing runs. On the final day of the season, the team were handed a 4-0 loss by the Miami Marlins. This saw them finish with an 83-79 record and miss the postseason on the final day.

Following this poor end to the campaign, the team made some big moves this offseason. The first of them saw the team giving up Brandon Nimmo. The Queens-based outfit traded away the veteran outfielder in exchange for Marcus Semien.

On Tuesday’s episode of “The Mike Francesa Podcast,” radio host Mike Francesa spoke about the locker room issues of the team. He expressed political differences between Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo regarding Donald Trump caused a rift between the two teammates.

The Nimmo-Lindor thing, my understanding, was political. Had to do with Trump. One side liked Trump, one side didn’t like Trump. So, Trump splitting up the Mets between Nimmo and Lindor. That’s my understanding.

A few days ago, the fans were once again left in shock following a report from the New York Post. Insider Mike Puma claimed that the two Mets stars had developed a “chilly” relationship in the locker room. Puma also expressed that there were questions regarding who the actual leader in the clubhouse was.

While expressing his thoughts regarding this, Francesa claimed that Lindor and Soto got off to the wrong foot when the former did not welcome the latter to the team. He also pointed out that Soto loved Aaron Judge.

I checked into it. Lindor and Soto were never buddy-buddy. It was never Soto and Judge. Soto loved Judge. My understanding is Lindor and Soto got off on the wrong foot when Lindor did not call him and welcome him to the team. But it was never that they couldn’t play together or anything major.
