Donald Trump set to host the Chiefs at White House despite their Super Bowl loss this year
The Philadelphia Eagles clinched a lopsided win over the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl LIX to end the latter’s threepeat odds

The Kansas City Chiefs will finally visit the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl LIV victory, five years after the historic win. Former President Donald Trump confirmed the plans, stating that the team missed their visit in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in February 2020 to claim their first Super Bowl title in 50 years. However, the global health crisis prevented the traditional White House visit, leaving the team without an official celebration.
Trump revealed the news during an interview with Clay Travis, the founder of Outkick, while aboard Air Force One. The former president did not specify a date for the visit but indicated that it would follow the Philadelphia Eagles’ scheduled appearance on April 28.
I look forward to having the Eagles for winning Super Bowl LIX in February. And one other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that because they missed their turn because of Covid.

If the Chiefs accept the invitation, they will be the second team to visit the White House this year. The Eagles, who defeated the Chiefs in this year’s Super Bowl, recently confirmed their attendance despite early speculation that they might decline.
The relationship between sports teams and the White House has been a topic of debate in recent years. In 2018, the Eagles declined to visit after winning Super Bowl LII, leading to criticism from Trump. Similarly, the Golden State Warriors chose not to attend following their NBA championship win in 2017.
Donald Trump’s invitation is in line with the ideologies of several Kansas City Chiefs players
The Kansas City Chiefs have a lot of players who are aboard the MAGA train. Patrick Mahomes, the starting quarterback, is a huge Republican supporter along with his wife, Brittany Mahomes. Mahomes had been center stage in the elections, with the octogenarian president praising her and her family on multiple occasions.

Harrison Butker, the infamous placekicker who went viral for his controversial take on women’s rights and women’s place in society, is also a supporter of the new president. Butker even visited the president at his office after the latter assumed the role. He also famously wore a tie protesting the pro-choice rights put forth by the then-president Joe Biden in their last visit to the White House.
Furthermore, the Kansas City Chiefs ownership is also a staunch supporter of the Republican Party. Tavia Hunt, wife of the owner, has defended Butker and rallied support for Trump as well. She publicly defended Trump amidst the racism allegations.
Although not a public supporter of Trump, tight end and boyfriend of Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, is one of the most looked-up-to people in the wake of the news. Kelce has stood on an almost neutral platform while Swift has vocalised her support for the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. It would be interesting to see how their dynamic works in the White House, after all the drama in the past season, when sports and politics intertwined like never before.
