Donald Trump expressed disappointment about the NFL naming Bad Bunny to headline the Super Bowl halftime show next year. The President of the United States called the selection “absolutely ridiculous.”

After months of speculation, the NFL broke millions of Swifities’ hearts by announcing Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rico native, as the lead performer of the halftime show at Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, California, in February 2026. Bunny’s selection divided opinions on social media, and recently, the sitting US president chimed in with his hot take.

Speaking on NewsMax’s “Greg Kelly Reports,” Trump claimed that he had never heard of Bunny until the NFL dropped his name.

The NFL just chose the Bad Bunny rabbit or whatever his name is. This guy, who hates ICE, he doesn’t like you; he accuses everything he doesn’t like of racism… I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is.

He further questioned the NFL’s reason behind the hire.

I don’t know why they’re doing it [the NFL]. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment—I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.

Bad Bunny to headline Super Bowl halftime show in 2026

On September 28, the NFL and Apple Music announced that Bad Bunny will perform during the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime show. However, Bunny made the headlines when his team did not include a stop in the US in his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour, which will run from December through July 2026.

Bunny, in an interview with I-D Magazine, claimed the ICE raid as one of the factors for not performing in the mainland.

People from the U.S. could come here [in Puerto Rico] to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of—like, [expletive] ICE could be outside.

Bunny said

Kristi Noem, of the Department of Homeland Security, stated that ICE will be present outside of the stadium on the day of the Super Bowl.

I have the responsibility for making sure that everybody [who] goes to the Super Bowl has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave. And that’s what America is about.

Bad Bunny faced heat for remaining seated during ‘God Bless America’ at Yankee Stadium

Bunny, with a few of his friends, was seen sitting in the bleachers inside Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night as the New York Yankees faced off against the Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series playoffs.

TMZ Sports obtained photos of the Grammy-winning singer enjoying the game day vibe from the best seat in the house – right behind the umpire – donning a jacket, shades, and a green cap.

A video posted by the outlet showed the crowd singing ‘guide her’ in unison while remaining seated the entire time.

A video shared by the official X account of Major League Baseball revealed that a foul ball nearly landed on top of Bunny. The incident brought a smile to his face.

The Blue Jays advanced to the next round after winning the series 5-2.
