Jake Paul’s rise from YouTube creator to one of the most prominent influencer boxers has reshaped the visibility of modern combat sports. While Paul remains a polarizing figure within the combat sports community, his popularity is undeniable. That popularity was highlighted when he was seen interacting with US President Donald Trump.

Paul recently faced the biggest test of his boxing career against Anthony Joshua at the Kaseya Center in Miami in December 2025. The bout marked his first appearance against an active former champion on a major stage.

However, Joshua secured a brutal sixth-round knockout by landing a straight right to Paul’s jaw. The strike sent ‘The Problem Child’ crashing to the canvas, and while he was not knocked out cold, he appeared surprised by the heavyweight’s power. Apart from this, Paul was seen spitting blood in the ring shortly after the knockout loss.

Medical evaluations later confirmed that the Ohio native suffered a double jaw fracture from the damage sustained in the bout, an injury severe enough to sideline Paul. He was later spotted pointing out the same injury to Donald Trump during halftime of the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.

Aside from the injury, the fight was a major success for Paul, both financially and in terms of exposure. He earned $92 million, while Joshua took home around $74 million due to US-UK tax laws. The bout’s success was further reflected in Paul’s purchase of a luxurious ranch in Georgia. The property is estimated to be worth around $40 million, highlighting his growing wealth from boxing and related ventures.

Paul and Trump share a deeper relationship beyond public appearances, as ‘The Problem Child’ has been vocal about his support for the President. He declared for Trump during the 2024 presidential campaign. Paul has also expressed his belief that Trump would take America to greater heights with a second term. Their connection highlights how celebrity influence and political support intersect in modern culture.

Donald Trump sent words of praise to Jake Paul after the Anthony Joshua loss

While the fight against Anthony Joshua ended in the sixth round, it felt much longer for Jake Paul. He struggled against the massive size and power of the former two-time heavyweight champion. Paul repeatedly fell to his knees during the bout, drawing attention to his boxing abilities. The performance sparked debate, with some questioning his skill and others acknowledging his courage in facing Joshua.

Many high-profile figures praised Paul for stepping into the squared circle against Joshua. Fighters like Conor McGregor, Anderson Silva, and Joshua himself acknowledged his willingness to take on the challenge. United States President Donald Trump also highlighted Paul’s bravery during a political post on drug pricing. Their recognition showed the attention Paul drew beyond boxing.

On the plane I just got to watch the Jake Paul Fight, and he did really well, especially as a display of great courage against a very talented and large Anthony Joshua. Fantastic Entertainment, but Kudos to Jake for his Stamina, and frankly, Ability, against a much bigger man!

While many praised Paul for his courage, including recognition from President Trump, UFC veteran Michael Bisping later criticized MVP CEO Nakisa Bidarian. Bisping disagreed with Bidarian’s claim that Paul did not lose due to a skill difference.

The remark sparked debate about Paul’s abilities versus Joshua’s experience. It highlighted ongoing discussions about influencer boxing and competitiveness.
