The MLB legend, Tommy John bears the story of a surgery each time he is honored. Despite his impressive record, he was not inducted into the Hall of Fame. When enquired, he mentioned something about Donald Trump being the reason.
Tommy John is one of the most famous pitchers of all time. The 81-year-old appeared on “The Michael Kay Show” on Wednesday and provided some light on not being in the Hall of Fame. When asked by host Michael Kay, John was clueless. However, he did hint it might be because of his political inclination towards Donald Trump.

Tommy John retired in 1989, making a run for Hall of Fame ballot from 1995 to 2009. As for Trump, he did not run for the elections until 2016. Furthermore, John was not selected by the Veteran’s Committee in 2011 and 2014, but the committee also skipped over him in 2018 and 2020. The last two times were in the presence of Trump’s candidacy, adding up the claim.
However, Tommy John wasn’t the only person to credit their political stances having withheld them from achievement. Curt Schilling voiced similar sentiments after he missed his chance in his penultimate year on the ballot. Subsequently, he asked to be removed from the ballot in his 10th and final year, which was rejected.
Donald Trump could have been a pro baseball player
According to the former US President, he was a top baseball player in his high school. Not just that, he could have gone to the heights of making a living out of it, as a professional baseball player. The statements are not mere conjectures, for they are backed by Trump himself.
Back in 2013, Trump went on X and shared his baseball experience at the New York Military Academy. He shared about his position as the captain of the baseball team. Trump mentioned his exceptional talents, besides working hard like everybody else.
I played football and baseball, sorry, but said to be the best bball player in N.Y. State-ask coach Ted Dobias-said best he ever coached.

Being common knowledge, Trump has mentioned his baseball prowess time and again. He also mentioned it in a book dedicated to him, “The Games Do Count: America’s Best and Brightest on the Power of Sports“. In some of the later interviews, he was even speculated to have been scouted by a couple of baseball teams.
