There is something special brewing in and around the Cleveland Cavaliers ever since the 2024-25 NBA season began. They have been the most dominant side led by Donovan Mitchell in the NBA this season alongside the Oklahoma City Thunder from the Western Conference. In the East, only the Boston Celtics are challenging the Cavs for the top spot, sitting at 2nd in the table.

Additionally, the Cavs’ dominance has been so good that out of 36 games played, they are 32-4 in the NBA. Not only that, they boast a jaw-dropping home record this season: 19-1 on home court. With this stat, they are just behind LeBron James‘ 2008-2009 Cavs side, who were 20-0 after 20 games in the NBA.

Interestingly, Cavs’ star, Mitchell has been at the forefront of the Cavs’ attack this 2024-25 NBA season. His field-goal percentage (45.7%), 3-point shooting (41.3%), assists (4.6 per game), steals (1.5 per game), and scoring (23.3 points per game) have all been steady. Mitchell has shown immense leadership qualities this season, with the Cavs looking like favorites to win the NBA 2025 title.

Aside from Mitchell, other stars have also stepped up. The addition of Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen has got the Cavaliers playing at their best level since LeBron James left in 2018. With an offensive rating of 122.0, the Cavaliers now lead the NBA in offensive efficiency. At 110.2, they rank seventh on defense as well.

Donovan Mitchell NOT impressed with Cavs’ dominant run in the NBA

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell discussed his team’s explosive start to the 2024–25 season in a recent interview with the media. Although the Cavaliers are in a strong position and have the best record in the NBA, Mitchell admitted that there is still much work to be done. The Cavs are the best team in the East but Michell does not seem impressed by it.

“We’re playing good basketball, but can we be this team consistently? Can we be this team when we lose two or three in a row? Can we be this team in the dog days right before the All-Star break? How long can we sustain? That’s the challenge.”

One of the most prominent tales of the season thus far has been the Cavaliers. They started this season with low hopes for their position in the East following a lackluster campaign the previous year. Rather, with a 32-4 record, they have been the league’s top team thus far. Right now, Mitchell is a serious contender for MVP, and his Cavaliers are poised to take the top spot in the rankings for the first time in many years.
