Andrey Rublev has reaped magnificent success in 2020. With 5 titles to his name and cracking through the Top-10 for the first time in his career, one would expect the Russian to be content with his astounding performance across the board. However, the 23-year old is anything but that. Rather, Rublev is looking to further solidify his footing at the ATP Tour.

He has won a record 41 matches on the tour this year. Three of these streaks led to three ATP-500 titles. However, Andrey wants to announce himself at the Grand Slams, even more so than he already has.

In addition, he is aiming to make a break through at the Tokyo Olympics 2021 as well.

Andrey has represented Russia at the youth Olympics in 2014. Moreover, he won a bronze medal in singles and a silver medal in doubles with Karen Khachanov.

In an interview with Sports24, Andrey expressed his desire to compete for his country at the Olympics. “I would like to play at the Olympics, to represent my country. This tournament is every four years. It is special,” he stated.

Rublev appeared in the quarter-finals of both the U.S Open and the French Open. While this result is extremely impressive, it is still a step or 2 beneath Andrey’s calibre. The Russian is looking to get past the mental hurdle at the Majors.

Reflecting on this, he continued, “I want to play completely great in the Grand Slam tournaments. And time will tell where it will turn out. The main thing is to come out with the thought, ‘I did everything I could, not to find fault with myself.’”
