Doug Gottlieb fires back at LeBron James over his "petty" tweet

Recently, LeBron James poked fun at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s new coach, Doug Gottlieb. This season, Gottlied-led Green Bay are in a slump, and have delt with significant struggles including a 20-game losing streak. Currently, they are sitting at 3-24.

This prompted ‘King James‘ to mock the Gottlieb, apparently for throwing shade at Bronny James earlier. However, the Fox-radio show host of “The Doug Gottlieb Show” didn’t brush off James remarks. Instead, he double downed on his harsh criticism of James’ first born.

This is not high school, middle school, AAU, it’s not even college. It’s the NBA, it’s the Lakers, and if you’re not comfortable with that, then maybe don’t force [Bronny James] into the NBA. But I have no response for a dude on a day off, who’s got millions of dollars, sitting in L.A. tweeting at me.

The Fox Sports personality is the first known Division I coach to simultaneously hold a national sports talk radio host position. This dual role has generated both fascination and skepticism within the sports community. It has raised questions about time management and focus between the two demanding roles, which might be hurting his team’s performance.

While in college, the radio host played basketball for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Interestingly, he led the nation in assist, twice, not an easy task. However, since it’s Doug Gottlieb‘s first coaching gig, their struggles are to be expected. It remains to be seen if the first-time coach can turn things around.

Controversial host unexpectedly comes to LeBron James’ defense

LeBron James’s decision to pull out of the All-Star Games at the very last minute provoked widespread anger within the basketball community. Among some of his most severe critics was the controversial host, Jason Whitlock. However, he soon changed his tone and went hard on Fox’s Gottlieb over his public scrutiny of Bronny James.

I must defend LeBron here. A basketball coach at the Division I level has publicly criticized his son, and that deserves to be addressed.

Jason Whitlock on LBJ versus Gottlieb

Jason Whitlock stated that although he considers Doug Gottlieb his friend, he has no problem with King James, as a dad, jumping to his son’s defense. Since Gottlieb dished it out, the radio host/basketball coach also has to be able to take it in.

While the four-time champion seldom fires back at his critics, the story is a bit different for a 40-year-old LeBron James. With All-Star Weekend over, the James patriarch will shut off all the outside noise, and focus on helping the Lakers make a comeback.
