Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah is confident the Giants will select Abdul Carter
With the draft in Green Bay less than a week away, NFL draft specialist Daniel Jeremiah is 90% sure that the Giants will not pass up on the chance to select Penn State's Abdul Carter.

The possibility of the New York Giants drafting Abdul Carter is growing every day. Recently, NFL draft expert Daniel Jeremiah revealed there’s a strong feeling in the Giants’ facility that the Penn State alumnus is the answer to their pass-rushing problems.
Carter always had the skills to be a great pass-rushing talent. He truly blossomed in his final season, recording 68 combined tackles and 12.0 sacks.
Two teams look set to play tag between them to sign Micah Parsons 2.0. The Giants are the favorites to secure Carter, and Jeremiah revealed they are closer to making it happen than most believe.
I feel pretty confident that they would take Abdul Carter. I’ve heard nothing that would sway me away from that.
Daniel Jeremiah said via NFL media conference call
Carter recently sent signals that he wants to wear the Giants’ royal blue jersey. He shared a photo of legendary linebacker Lawrence Taylor to further his case. The Giants selecting Carter at 3 would make him Penn State’s highest draft pick since Saquon Barkley to the Giants at 2 overall in 2018.
On the flip side, NFL drafts are unpredictable. Recently, Tom Pelissero claimed on the Rich Eisen Show that only the top 10 picks are locked in, and after that, it’s anyone’s guess as to which players land with which team.
I would love for the Giants is if they were to put get [Abdul Carter] on board and then after that you try and find somebody who fits you without having to give away the farm to go get them.

Daniel Jeremiah claimed Abdul Carter is the best player in the draft
There’s a general consensus that the first player selected on day one is the best player of the draft. That’s not always true.

Cam Ward of Miami is projected to be the first overall pick because the Tennessee Titans need a quarterback. If their requirement was a pass rusher, then Carter would have been considered the first player on the list.
For me, Abdul Carter is the best player in the draft.

Who is Carter’s favorite player?
Abdul Carter has been compared with several of his predecessors. Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Micah Parsons is one name that often comes up while discussing Carter and his ceiling in the NFL. He even paid homage to the All-Pro linebacker by wearing the same number 11 jersey at Penn State and trained with him before the start of the 2024 college football season.
Parsons isn’t the only player Carter looks up to. His favorite player is former Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams, and Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller.
My favorite player [is] Von Miller—just the way he played, how he showed up in the biggest moments. He’s probably my favorite player.

Miller was drafted second overall by the Denver Broncos in 2011. Four years later, Miller won his first Super Bowl. After a decade, he signed for the Los Angeles Rams and bagged his second ring before moving to the Bills.
He has played a total of 186 games, recording 581 combined tackles, 129.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss, 9 forced fumbles, two interceptions, and 24 pass deflections. Miller is among the nine defensive players ever to win a Super Bowl MVP (Super Bowl 50).
Carter is projected to have a similar career to Miller, and the Giants would love for him to be the heart and soul of the defense for years to come unless the Patriots hijack it with a mouthwatering proposal.
