Cooper Flagg did not waste any time in making his intentions clear regarding joining the Dallas Mavericks, i.e to win a chip with them.

Throughout the last 2-3 months, Cooper Flagg was predicted to be the first choice in Wednesday night’s NBA draft. Also, he enjoys playing golf in his own time and seems to be the next big NBA star. The pipeline from basketball to golf is real. Many former and current stars like the legendary Michael Jordan and the Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry play golf in their free time.

The prospects have been questioned about everything from where they may fit in the NBA to some less serious matters in the lead-up to the NBA Draft. Before the selection, Taylor Rooks had the opportunity to talk to Flagg and ask him a lighthearted question that encompassed a number of NBA icons and stars. He mentioned Curry and Jordan, who are both well-known for playing golf a lot (Curry even claims he will play competitively after his NBA tenure).

Um, Michael Jordan, I know he’s a good golfer um probably take Steph Curry, I know he’s a good golfer and ill take (Jayson)Tatum as well…

Cooper Flagg told Taylor Rooks

Flagg would have the chance to learn from playing with the ideal foursome in addition to having the chance to play with some of the best players in the world. Jordan has six NBA Finals rings, Curry has four, and Jayson Tatum has one from 2024. All three players have won the NBA Finals.

Flagg’s first ring may not be too far off, as he moves to a position where he can compete immediately. With the Mavs’ roster already star-studded with the likes of Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, Flagg should have no problem adjusting to his new surroundings for the upcoming season.

Flagg would benefit from talking basketball with these three NBA icons, even though it would be enjoyable to just go out and play golf with them. As the rising talent joins the league, Jordan, Curry, and Tatum would be able to offer a wealth of advice. It will be interesting to watch how this unfolds in the coming seasons.

Cooper Flagg breaks the silence on the conspiracy theories regarding the No. 1 Draft Lottery Pick

In February, former Maverick superstar Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, sending shockwaves in and around the NBA world. Now, just as this trade happened, a month later, the Mavs secured the No.1 draft lottery pick. This raised doubts over the Mavs. The stunning action sparked conspiracy theories and “rigged” lottery conversations by fans.

Most recently, the Mavs drafted talented star Cooper Flagg as their No.1 pick. Now, Flagg provided a blunt response to all these theories.

No. I don’t know what to say about that. I have no insider information if that’s what you’re looking for. But I just feel blessed for the way it all worked out.

Cooper Flagg said

Flagg insisted that he was pleased to have the chance to play for Dallas and, ideally, win a championship for them, but said he had no new information. The 18-year-old Newport, Maine native, who stands 6-9, is the Mavericks’ first No. 1 pick since Mark Aguirre was chosen in 1981. All eyes will now be on the newest Mavs player going into the 2025-26 NBA season.

Cooper Flagg is setting huge goals with the Mavericks

Cooper Flagg is not messing about. He made his intentions clear right from the moment he got drafted on Wednesday: to win the title with the Dallas Mavericks. If he manages to win a chip in his 1st season, that would leave everyone in awe of his greatness. He would be the second player, after Lakers great Magic Johnson, to win a championship in his debut campaign.

Of course, yeah. My mindset has always been to be a winner, so I’m going to try to win as hard as I can everywhere I go. I’m looking forward to being successful and winning a lot of games, for sure.

Cooper Flagg told the media

It is undeniable that the Mavericks are now strong playoff candidates, even though they are not the clear favorites to win the 2025–26 championship. Leading the club already are Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis, all of whom contribute priceless playoff and championship experience.
