The Toronto Maple Leafs have once again suffered a crushing defeat in Game 7. On Sunday, the Canadian-based outfit suffered a 6-1 loss against the Florida Panthers and were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs. Popular rap music artist Drake would later blame Justin Bieber as he lost over $1 million in bet.
Earlier in the day, Drake took to his Instagram account and informed that he had placed a bet on the Maple Leafs winning Game 7. The pop artist shared a screenshot of a betting slip which claimed that he placed a $1 million bet on the team winning and additional $250,000 on them winning by 2 goals or more.

Unfortunately for him, that did not happen. The Maple Leafs got hammered 6-1 at the Scotiabank Arena and were knocked out. Justin Bieber, who is a diehard fan of the team, was at the arena to watch the game live and cheered for his team.
After the game, Drake took to his Instagram stories and pointed fingers at Bieber. The 38-year-old blamed Bieber’s luck for this and dropped a two-word reaction.
Bieber curse

While Drake has been notorious for the “Drake Curse“, there are some who have sometimes blamed Bieber for bringing bad luck and labeled it as the “Bieber Curse.” On Sunday, Drake jokingly accused his fellow-Canadian artist for the loss of Maple Leafs.
Maple Leafs’ record in winner-takes-all Game in Core 4 era takes another hit
The Toronto Maple Leafs simply cannot get the job done in Game 7. Following their latest 6-1 loss, their record in winner-takes-all in the Core 4 era took another massive hit.

The loss on Sunday was the Maple Leafs’ 7th Game 7 loss while having Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Mitch Marner and John Tavares in the field. The Maple Leafs are now 0-7 in such winner-takes-all game after they got hammered 6-1.

The 1967 Stanley Cup champions now also hold the 2nd longest losing streak in such a winners-take-all game. Since 2013, the Maple Leafs have lost 8 such games. The record for the longest such streak currently belongs to the New York Rangers, who lost 10 such games from 1937 to 1984.

Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews takes indirect aim at teammates with ‘passengers’ comment
The Toronto Maple Leafs are once again going home empty-handed. Following their loss in Game 7 against the Florida Panthers, captain Auston Matthews took an indirect aim at his teammates while dropping a ‘passengers’ comment.

A 6-minute stretch in the 2nd period saw the home side concede three goals. Seth Jones, Anton Lundell, and Jonah Gadjovich all scored to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead. Despite a goal from Max Domi early in the third period, the Maple Leafs were unable to do anything more and conceded 3 more goals to suffer a 6-1 loss.
In the press conference after the game, Matthews referenced the second period and expressed that some of his teammates had become ‘passengers’ throughout the game.
I felt like we ready to play. I felt like we were in a good mindset. Like I said, I felt the first 10 minutes, they came out strong. In the next 10 minutes, I felt we controlled the play. I thought we had too many passengers throughout the rest of the game. And we weren’t on the same page.
