Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his Oklahoma City Thunder had to work hard in the second-round playoff series against MVP rival Nikola Jokic and his Denver Nuggets. But it was not be that difficult, as the league-leaders were well-rested and had confidence oozing out of themselves after sweeping the Memphis Grizzlies in the first-round.

After that series, they had to wait until the Nuggets finished their first-round win after a gruelling series with the Los Angeles Clippers. That meant the Thunder received a week’s worth of rest and time to analyze and dissect their next opponents.

But when the series started, the Thunder’s lack of game time spoke volumes, as the Nuggets won the opening game on the road. Then the Thunder got their act together and proved why many considered them to be good enough to lift the NBA title.

But somehow, the series extended as the Nuggets battled fatigue and injuries to win Games 3 and 6 to tie. Finally, earlier today afternoon, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led his teammates to stifle, as well as blow the Nuggets away for good. Watching this unfold, one of SGA’s staunch supporters posted a photo of SGA on their Instagram with this caption.

MVP. R U DUMB.

This was multiple Grammy Award-winning rapper Drake, who wanted to let voters know they would be wrong to not name his fellow Canadian this season’s MVP. That Game 7 performance and his other displays in the playoffs should seal the deal for him. At least this was solace for him after the night he had supporting and betting on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Drake lost $1.25 million in bets in Stanley Cup playoffs

Drake is not one to shy away from placing bets on games. He has won a lot of money, a recent example of it was when he won over a million dollars betting against former close friend LeBron James. Then there are times when he loses money as well.

As a staunch supporter of Canadian sports, he revealed ahead of the pivotal Game 7 of the second-round playoff battle between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers that he had placed two bets on his hometown team.

The first was a straight-up bet on the Maple Leafs to win Game 7. The odds were 2.13, which meant he would have earned $2.13 million on his $1 million bet. Then Drake placed a second bet, this time on the goal difference, which he believed would see the Maple Leafs win by 2.

He might have been buoyed by the 2-0 victory his hometown team notched against the Panthers in Game 6. But, alas, it was not to happen, as the away team sent Drake and the home fans seething by destroying the Maple Leafs 6-1. The rapper ended up losing the $1.25 million he bet on his home team.

Drake should be back betting on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in West Finals

Team-wise, Drake only supports Canadian-based teams. But he does support a lot of prime athletes, such as Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and others, and makes sure to give them a warm embrace and chat with them before or after their game.

But that is only when they are playing against the Toronto Raptors in Canada. Since the Raptors are not in the playoffs, and hence will not face Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his Oklahoma City Thunder, Drake will have to watch from home.

The rapper will look to see how his fellow national does against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals. The 38-year-old’s other basketball friends are not in the playoffs, which means, SGA is the lone star remaining that the rapper can cheer for.

Drake might understand the nuances of the first few games to decide how much he wants to bet on the Thunder superstar. If he believes they will win, expect the musical artist to share screenshots of such bets again.
