It looks like two-time NBA champion, Kevin Durant and popular streamer IShowSpeed have found a new found connection. The two have teamed up a couple of times before, once on a podcast with Logan Paul and Mike Majlak and the other time for a commercial. So, the third time linking up was on the basketball court.

In the latest episode of Speed Goes Pro, Speed joined Kevin Durant for a two-on-two pickup game against St. John’s forwards Zuby Ejiofor and Bryce Hopkins — both of whom stand nearly a foot taller than Speed. But it was clear from the onset that Durant and Speed may have to work on their chemistry before taking to court again.

Speed was overwhelmed by the difference in their heights as he stood at 5’10” while the two opponents stood at 6’7”-6’8”, nearly a foot taller. The 20-year-old gave his best, despite being at a severe disadvantage but the game spiraled into an early blowout, as Speed and Durant quickly fell behind 5-0.

When Speed missed a wide-open layup, Durant took off his shoes mid-game and started dapping everyone up, signaling he was done playing. Watching the incident go viral, Drake had a few words to share as it was a trip down memory lane for the Canadian rapper:

Kevin Durant and Drake have remained good friends for years

Despite Durant’s walk-off mid-game, the two stars have continued to have a good relationship off the court. Drake has had relationships with quite a few NBA players over the years, including with LeBron James. But that seems to have taken a bit of a hit as Drake had a falling out with James during Kendrick Lamar beef.

Drake believed that James betrayed him by showing allegiance to the rapper from Compton at his Pop Out concert, and constantly singing to “Not Like Us”. Hence, many believe that is one of the reasons why Drake has continued to be close to Durant as Drizzy and KD still remain in good touch.

But there is some substance to their friendship as the Houston Rockets star stood up for Drake. For instance, when asked moments after Lamar dissed Drake during the Super Bowl Halftime Show, Durant said he did not really pay much attention to it. And recently, he was seen playing with Drake’s son, Adonis.

Kevin Durant lauds IShowSpeed for his athleticism and work

Durant may have left Speed hanging mid-way of the game but he did shower some words of appreciation for the famed Youtuber. Both fans and pros were left stunned when Speed broke Sacramento Kings guard Devin Carter’s 3/4 NBA sprint record of 2.87 seconds in a blazing 2.805 seconds, officially entering his name into the record books.

Durant even lauded Speed for his work ethic and what he brings to the table as a content creator. It was a heartwarming and supportive gesture from one of the greatest scorers in the game. When asked about Speed, Durant told the reporters:

Speed is just an athlete man. He can do it all. Streamers and guys creating content everyday, that is a tough job to do. I really got respect what Speed brings in to the culture and that was fun. I want to try and get him out to a Rockets game for sure.

Speed has crossed paths with several sports stars over the years. Racing against Olympic Gold medalist Noah Lyles, linked up with Tom Brady and even met his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
