The “Drake Maye” fervor has taken over Boston. The second-year quarterback led the New England Patriots into their first-ever Super Bowl in the post-Tom Brady era, after a scintillating win against the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver.
The Titletown might be blanketed in a thick slob of snow, but the city remains buzzing with the Drake Maye mania. The energy and fervor have spilled over to the Boston Celtics when they took on the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night. The Celtics’ new owner, William Chisholm, was at the centre of the spotlight at TD Garden.
The entrepreneur, joined by his wife Kimberly Ford Chisholm, spotted a creative hoodie while supporting his team. Chisholm had a black “I Heart Drake Maye” but with a twist. Instead of a red heart, he had a shamrock.

The New England Patriots’ owner, Robert Kraft, was also in attendance to watch the Celtics. The billionaire received a massive ovation from the crowd when he was shown on the Jumbotron. Kraft bought the franchise in 1994, after which they have won the Super Bowl six times and sold out every home game.
Meanwhile, on the hardwood Monday night, the Celtics edged the Trail Blazers 102-94 thanks to solid performances from Payton Pritchard and Jaylen Brown. Pritchard scored 23 points, and Brown added 20. Derrick White also played a huge role in the game, adding 18 points, including a 3-pointer, after the Trailblazers reduced a 23-point deficit to five in the final minute.
The Celtics weren’t on top of the game completely, especially in terms of offense. However, they did enough defensively to keep the Blazers at bay, equalising the season series at 1–1 and improving to 29–17 on the year. The narrow win keeps Boston in second place in the Eastern Conference. On the other hand, the Trailblazers dropped below .500.
Boston Celtics HC Joe Mazzulla pitched his two cents about the Patriots team amid their Super Bowl run
Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla weighed in on the New England Patriots amid their Super Bowl run, offering his perspective on the city’s other powerhouse franchise. Speaking from the lens of a coach leading a contender of his own, Mazzulla highlighted the standards and mindset required to thrive on the biggest stage.

In four seasons as the head coach of the Celtics, Mazzulla boasts a strong record and a title under his aegis. In 2024, the Celtics rallied to defeat the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals and win their 18th championship, making them the most decorated team and surpassing the Los Angeles Lakers. He knows a thing or two about winning, and he thinks that the Patriots have managed to create a winning mindset. Mazzulla said via WEEI’s Justin Turpin.
I think when you just take a look at it, they’re a team that’s developed an identity over the course of the season, and every coach, regardless of the sport, is looking for that, creating that type of identity and consistency, and playing to that throughout an entire season. I think they’re a great example of that this year.
In the short time Mike Vrabel has taken over the Patriots, he has formed a decent relationship with Mazzulla. The Celtics’ coach and his stepson, Michael Harden, were invited by Vrabel amid a practice in the fields behind Gillette Stadium. During that time, Vrabel also revealed that Mazzulla had previously reached out to him since he started at Gillette Stadium.
