Drake Maye MVP chants are getting louder with each passing week, and for good reason. Maye has been balling every week, leaving opposition defenses in the dust with his accurate passing and sound game management.
The New York Jets were familiar with Maye’s skills in the Week 11 defeat. Maye completed 73% of his passes, averaged 8.3 yards per throw, and had one touchdown as the Pats won 27-14.
So, Aaron Glenn and co. knew what they were up against. Sadly, for the Jets fans, whatever countermeasure was in place at kickoff failed to contain Maye. He threw five total touchdowns, completed 90% of his passes, and finished with a quarterback rating of 99.8 QBR (highest QBR game in the metric’s history).
This is an insane passing chart.

The Patriots won 42-10 since Mac Jones and Damien Harris scored 54 points against their divisional rivals in 2021. Of course, Jones was nowhere near in the MVP conversation the way Maye has been in 2025.
It’s remarkable that a year after finishing 3-9 as a starter, he has led the Patriots to a 13-3 record and won the AFC East. Naturally, fans want Maye to become the MVP.

Patriots players want to see Drake Maye win the NFL MVP
The Patriots made several changes in their coaching department. Mike Vrabel was appointed as head coach and Josh McDaniels (part of the previous dynasty that won six Super Bowls) was hired as the offensive coordinator.

All Pro WR Stefon Diggs, Super Bowl winner DT Milton Williams, veteran OT Morgan Moses, OLB Robert Spillane and Pro Bowl Edge Harold Landry were added to strengthen the team. The Patriots also made good use of the draft, selecting highly rated offensive lineman Will Campbell alongside RB Treveyon Henderson in the first rounds.
Every single player has played a big part in making the Patriots’ season a success. However, they still needed a conductor at the center of the field. Maye stepped up and made the position his own. Five touchdowns against the Jets were the fruit of their collective labor.
Diggs especially has played a big role in helping Maye find his feet in the league. Following 6 catches for 101 yards, one touchdown and pocketing generous 500k in incentives, he spoke with NFL Network‘s Mike Garafolo asked Diggs whether he had imagined that Maye would throw five TDs.
No I did not. He surprised all of us. I knew he was going to be good but nah, I didn’t know he was going to be this good. I’m just super proud of him.
Stefon Diggs replied
Garafolo further asked Cardi B’s partner about who he thinks should be the NFL MVP. “Drake Maye,” Diggs quipped.
I asked Stefon Diggs if he knew what he had in QB Drake Maye (he of the 5 TD passes today) when he joined the #Patriots: “No I did not. He surprised all of us. I knew he was going to be good but nah, I didn’t know he was going to be this good. I’m just super proud of him.” pic.twitter.com/pboIAOKwwX

Maye also has the verbal vote of his head coach, Vrabel.
Well they don’t give me a vote. There is nobody else that we would want as our quarterback or that I want as our quarterback.
