Drake Maye is looking forward to working with Mike Vrabel. The New England Patriots quarterback was a late addition to the Pro Bowl games and spoke about his interaction with the new head coach.
Maye spoke very little after Jerod Mayo was fired and later announced his engagement with his longtime girlfriend. He did not expect to be at the Pro Bowl until the last second. Sirius XM caught up with him for a short chat and asked whether he had spoken with Vrabel.
Maye highlighted that Vrabel’s past head coach experience with the Tennessee Titans will be useful in the new season.
"He's [Mike Vrabel] been awesome." @Patriots QB Drake Maye discussed how excited he is to play for HC Mike Vrabel and OC Josh McDaniels.

Vrabel coached the Titans for six seasons and won their division twice. His best-ever season was in the pre-Covid 2019 season when the Titans played in the AFC Championship game but eventually lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mike Vrabel’s new coaching addition is likely to unleash Drake Maye’s full potential
Mayo wasn’t the only casualty from the 2024 season. The Patriots also fired their offensive coordinator, Alex Van Pelt, and instead of searching for a new man, owner Robert Kraft and Vrabel decided to bring back Josh McDaniels.
McDaniels needed a job after the Las Vegas Raiders fired him as their head coach in 2023. Before making the career switch, he spent a major part of his earlier years as the OC of the Patriots designing plays for Tom Brady.
Maye’s first season in the NFL was rough. He replaced Jacoby Brissett as the starter and set a 3-9 record, ending the year with a 66.6% completion rate for 2276 yards, 17 overall touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
Some skeptics don’t believe either Vrabel or McDaniels can elevate the Patriots. However, both these individuals were part of the franchise during its peak years. Vrabel, as a player, won three Super Bowls before turning to coaching.
The Patriots were going through a long drought without winning the Super Bowl until McDaniels was appointed, and he helped Brady win three Super Bowls after he was 35. If anyone can help Maye establish himself as among the top young quarterbacks in the NFL, then these two are the right men for the job.
