Drake is back with a bang and has released three albums titled Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honor and has name dropped two of the biggest figures in the NBA – LeBron James and Stephen Curry. It is not the first time that the rapper has mentioned the two stars in his songs before.

The Canadian rapper dropped three albums on Friday and there were multiple NBA references. Drake has a good relationship with several NBA stars and is an avid fan of the Toronto Raptors.

In one his songs, he gave a nod to Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and brought up his college alma mater.

Back when they was asking about where Davidson was at… now everbody got a blue 30 on they back.

The lyrics were in praise of Stephen Curry. Meanwhile, it was not the same for LeBron James as the four-time champion and Drake haven’t really been close as of late. There seems to be no love lost between the two as the lyrics of one of his leaked songs saw him dissing James.

The two have shared a good relationship with one another for a long time but things went south when James openly supported Kendrick Lamar during his 2024 rap battle with Drake. The speculations were fueled further when James and his wife, Savannah, were captured singing Not Like Us, which is a song by Lamar taking shots at the Canadian rapper.

A few months ago, James didn’t give any signs of a feud as he reiterated his love for the rapper. But that doesn’t seem to be the case after Drake’s latest album. However, it appears that everything is good between him and Curry for now.

NBA stars react to Drake’s latest album

The music world comes to a still whenever Drake releases an album. But the rapper has gone to release three albums on Friday night. While there were multiple NBA references in the album, it was the lyrics mentioning LeBron James and Stephen Curry that generated a lot of buzz in the NBA community.

NBA stars such as Tyrese Haliburton and Trae Young were excited about Drake’s new release. The Indiana Pacers star joked on social media that he was glad there weren’t any NBA games on the schedule.

Meanwhile, Young could not keep his calm and labeled the rapper as the GOAT.

Both stars are currently enjoying their offseason. Young was traded to the Washington Wizards at the trade deadline this year, while Haliburton missed the entire 2025-26 campaign due to a torn Achilles Tendon he suffered in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last year.

There is no doubt that the album is going to continue to grab the headlines over the next few weeks. The biggest surprise was two additional albums being released as well. The existence of both albums had been kept entirely under wraps until just hours before release. NBA players and fans will be able to enjoy the NBA references with no games to be played.

Following the albums release, Curry took to social media to congratulate the rapper. He posted the cover picture of the album and wrote: “Congrats Drake.”

It has been three years since Drake released his last album For All the Dogs. It is unfortunate that Drake and LeBron James haven’t put their differences aside and the latest album is only going to drift them further apart.
