DeMar DeRozan and Drake beef

Drake and DeMar DeRozan are officially at war with each other. The two have shared a close relationship over the years, with DeRozan spending the first nine seasons of his career with the Toronto Raptors. The Compton native has since switched sides, returning to his roots in California after the onset of Hip-Hop’s biggest beef – Drake versus Kendrick Lamar.

Following Drake’s beef with Lamar and the West Coast, it seems like The Six God is not about to roll over and stand disrespect. As the Sacramento Kings came to town in Toronto, Drake made sure he made an appearance at the Scotiabank Arena to watch DeMar DeRozan play.

Following halftime, Drake joined the Raptors’ broadcast crew on the TSN broadcast. During a sequence in the 4th quarter, the Toronto rapper threw shade at DeRozan when he was asked about the possibility of the Raptors retiring the 6x All-Stars jersey. Drake shut down any possibility of a DeRozan jersey hanging from the rafters in Toronto.

If you ever put a DeRozan banner up ill go up there and pull it down myself….shout out to Kyle.

Drake continued to throw shots at Demar DeRozan on the broadcast, calling him a ‘goof’ in another clip. The beef between the two really took off when DeRozan joined Kendrick Lamar in the ‘Not Like Us’ Drake diss music video.

DeRozan, alongside the likes of stars like Russell Westbrook and LeBron James, was also amongst the many who attended the ‘Pop Out’ concert organized by Lamar. Lamar also quoted Deebo in a bar on the diss track – “I’m glad DeRoz’ came home, y’all didn’t deserve him neither.” Drake certainly didn’t take well to his former friend siding with his ‘Opps’.

The chirping between DeMar DeRozan and Drake did not stop at the end of regulation either. The game between the Kings and Raptors ended with a 128-131 win in overtime for the home team.

As DeRozan and the Kings left the court, Drake could be seen chirping at the Kings star. Following the game, DeMar DeRozan reacted to Drake’s comments about tearing down his jersey.

He’s going to have a long way to climb to take it down…tell him good luck.

DeRozan still remains the all-time leading scorer in Toronto Raptors history. Even though he departed from the team in 2018, the 35-year-old played a crucial role in creating the dominant 2010s Raptors team. The team eventually won the 2019 Championship after Deebo was traded for another California superstar, Kawhi Leonard.

On Saturday night, DeRozan led both teams in scoring with 33 points. He scored 18 points in the 4th quarter and OT. Unfortunately, his scoring heroics weren’t enough to stave off a gritty Raptors team. The two teams are set to face off again later this week, with the Raptors visiting Sacramento. However, it remains to be seen whether Drake will show up for the game.
