Dillon Brooks is famous for being one of the peskiest defenders in the league, along with his theatrics against opponents that tend to rile up fans and players alike. All of those qualities tend to make him a villain, something he has embraced.

Be it getting into it with LeBron James, Draymond Green, or any other player, he is usually the primary aggressor. Fans and analysts know him as the one who antagonizes his opponents to win psychological battles during a game.

Sometimes he gets the better of them. Then there are other times when it comes back to bite him in the worst way possible. One of the most famous instances was when he and his then-Memphis Grizzlies were dumped out by James and the Lakers.

That famous ‘poking the bear’ incident become a part of his legacy. For a player who considers himself to be that tough, it would be surprising if someone forces him to file for a restraining order after fearing for his safety.

It would be even more surprising if that ‘person’ happened to be a woman, more importantly, his ex-wife, Heather Andrews. The mother of Brooks’ two children allegedly threatened to ‘cut his fingers off’, as revealed by TMZ Sports.

The now Phoenix Suns forward has filed for a temporary restraining order against Andrews in Los Angeles. The 29-year-old Canadian believes his former wife has gone to great lengths to paint him as a villain.

Dillon Brooks is one of those rare Canadian basketball players who do not have a good relationship with rapper and basketball fan Drake. Back in August of 2023, the forward was getting ready to represent his country at the FIBA World Cup.

In an interview before the tournament, Brooks was the sole national team player to not select Drake as their favorite Canadian. The rapper remembered that and dissed the now Phoenix Suns star on his track, Another Late Night. A line from that song was:

‘Or send a finger to your mama in some FedEx boxes.’

Considering how those lyrics have almost come true in the form of Heather Andrews’ threat, fans on social media were in awe as to how something that Drake wrote back in 2023 was almost becoming a reality for Dillon Brooks in 2025 at the hands of his ex-wife.

Heather Andrews’ threat to cut Dillon Brooks‘ fingers off was not the only issue that led to the filing of that restraining order. He claims she somehow accessed his OurFamilyWizard account. Through that co-parenting app, she sent a threatening message to herself, trying to show that it was from Brooks.

He also claimed that she had destroyed his personal belongings and vandalized others. However, these claims come a year after the mother of two filed a temporary restraining order against the NBA star for harassing and threatening her.

Arguments from both sides will be presented next month in front of a judge in Los Angeles. Now, Dillon Brooks has to wait for a ruling as he looks to shift his residence from Houston to Phoenix, Arizona, after he was traded in exchange for Kevin Durant.
