Drakkar Klose and Jeremy Stephens will not be fighting today at the UFC on ESPN 22 since Klose has been forced to pull off due to injury reasons. The co-headliner fight of the event has been scrapped off and the officials have decided to postpone the bout to another event.
The UFC promotion announced that Drakkar Klose will withdrawing from the fight due to the faceoff exchange between his opponent at the faceoffs. Drakkar Klose tweeted out saying that he will no longer be fighting and posted a note that read out the reason for his withdrawal.
“After I was pushed by Jeremy at UFC faceoffs, I immediately felt my hand go numb and neck tighten up. Sean Shelby and the UFC officials sent me to the PI to get worked on by the UFC PT staff for two hours. I spent the night eating, rehydrating, stretching and even saw the PT staff later that night. I woke up early this morning with a migraine/headache, nausea, and the only thing that made me feel better was laying in the dark.
UFC got me medicine and I rested for a couple hours before getting up and vomiting. It was at that point we called the UFC doctor and he made the decision to send me to the hospital. I’m sorry to everyone who was excited for this fight, I tried to do everything I could to stay in this fight, but these issues are out of my control,” wrote Drakkar Klose in his statement.
Drakkar Klose’s wife reveals cause of injury
The news about Drakkar Klose being scrapped from the fight was reported by ESPN. After the news media reported it. Klose released a statement explaining why he won’t be fighting. Later his wife, UFC strawweight veteran, Cortney Casey tweeted out the cause of the injury.
Klose’s wife tweeted upset about the situation caused by Stephens. “I’m just going to leave this right here,” she wrote on Twitter. Casey attached a screenshot of what the injury is and what the symptoms are. Drakkar Klose is facing an injury called Whiplash that causes pain in the neck and shoulders.
