It appears that Draymond Green is at a career crossroads with the Golden State Warriors at the moment. It has been a difficult period for the club over the last two weeks. After impressive performances at home in the 2025-26 campaign, the Warriors have suffered consecutive losses at the Chase Center. On Tuesday night, they suffered a humiliating 113-94 defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Since Jimmy Butler‘s ACL tear, the Warriors have lost five of their last seven games. At one point, it looked like the Warriors were making a run for the top six, but they seem to be losing ground. The loss dropped their record to 27-24 as they sit at eighth in the Western Conference standings. Meanwhile, the 76ers have had their own setback a few days ago, but remain in strong contention for a direct playoff qualification in the Eastern Conference.

It was a poor performance from Steve Kerr‘s men against the 76ers. While they were without the services of their star player Stephen Curry, not a single player from the Warriors recorded even 15 points on Tuesday. Draymond Green had a tough night as he recorded eight points, seven rebounds and three assists. They committed 20 turnovers and were outrebounded by 56-33.

It is no secret that Green and Kerr share a strong bond and have achieved plenty of success together. Kerr has often defended Green during press conferences despite Green’s controversial actions throughout his career. Back in December, against the Orlando Magic, the two were involved in a heated exchange that saw Green walk towards the dressing room during a timeout.

They were able to go past their differences without any issues, highlighting their close relationship. After the loss on Tuesday, Green spoke about his conversation with Kerr about the possibility of being traded in his post-match press conference.

That’s when it got real for me. Maybe I should be more worried about this than I am. He’s like ‘How’s Hazel (Green’s wife) handling it’ and that’s when it got real to me. I was like, I haven’t spoken to her about it. That’s when it got real to me.

Drafted as a second-round pick in the 2012 NBA draft, Green has won four championships and was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. With the Warriors trying to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo, it appears that the club is looking to include Green in their trade package, bringing an end to his illustrious 14-year spell with the organization.

Draymond Green had a heartfelt press conference

It is never easy to be traded away after spending nearly one and a half decades with the same franchise. With the trade deadline just two days away, it is likely that Green’s time with the Dubs has come to an end. After nearly 14 years, his name is suddenly part of real trade conversations, and not just as background noise.

In the post-match press conference, the four-time champion was grateful for his time with the Warriors.

I’ve been here for 13 and a half years. That’s longer than 98% of NBA players. I don’t know that it ends at 13 and a half but if it does what a f—— run it’s been. I’ll take the fine for it. What a f—— run it’s been. So that’s just how I feel. I’m lucky. Grateful. My family has not had to move anywhere since I started my family. That’s incredible. I don’t take that for granted.

It was a raw and emotional press conference for the 35-year-old. Having spent his entire career with the Warriors, it is bound to hit him hard. But unfortunately, that is the nature of the league.

Warriors are looking to extend Stephen Curry’s championship window

The Warriors owe a lot to Curry. Drafted as the number seven pick in the 2009 NBA draft, the 37-year-old has brought a lot of success to the franchise. He has revolutionized the game of basketball, turning the Dubs into one of the most exciting teams in the last decade and helping them clinch four NBA championships.

After acquiring Butler at the trade deadline last season, it seemed that the front office were looking to extend Curry’s championship window with one final push. They beat the second-seeded Houston Rockets in the first round in seven games, but unfortunately, an injury to Curry saw them get knocked out in the second round by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Warriors were confident with the roster heading into the 2025-26 campaign, but with Butler out for the remainder of the season, it pretty much shut their championship window. However, they have emerged as one of the strong suitors for Antetokounmpo.

The management have made it clear that Curry is the only untouchable player in the roster. Hence, it looks like Green may be one of the few players on their way out. If they manage to acquire the Greek superstar by the deadline, Curry and the Warriors will fancy their chances in the postseason.
