Star forward Draymond Green and his Golden State Warriors teammates came into this season intending to try to win another NBA championship.
Last season, after Jimmy Butler joined, the franchise was excited to see how far their improved roster would go. That ended in the second round after Stephen Curry‘s injury became a problem they could not overcome.
This season, the hope is that a fully healthy team will be able to maximize its potential. After an initial stretch of impressive performances, the Warriors hit a roadblock where Green and Butler openly questioned the team’s intent.
They have rebounded with a few wins, but Steve Kerr openly admitted that the dynasty is fading. When Draymond Green took to his namesake podcast, he clarified what his head coach said:
The reality of it is, it’s true. Dynasties don’t last forever. What you do is you try to prolong them as long as you can, you try to build on them as much as you can… Stephen Curry is in year 17, I’m in year 14, Klay Thompson, who’s gone, would be in year 15. We’ve been at it for a while.
Draymond Green said
The forward reiterated that Kerr was not throwing any shade at the team. Instead, he said that it was ‘fading’, not ‘faded’ as many critics felt his words sounded.

Then, Green reminded his viewers that it is up to him and his ‘aging’ teammates to try to prolong the Warriors’ dynasty as long as they can, as they still are in the hunt.
Draymond Green details what went down with Steve Kerr in fiery altercation
During their recent three-game winning-streak, Draymond Green had a fiery altercation with Steve Kerr, which ended when the forward walked away to the locker room. Now, the former Defensive Player of the Year details what truly went down.
We agreed in the moment, ‘Take me out, I’m removing myself.’ I left the bench because I thought it was the right thing to do. I think the best thing to do for human beings is to remove yourself from the heated situation for the sake of the team.
Draymond Green said
The four-time champion took shots at ‘talking heads’ in the media who claimed he was wrong to walk away, as he felt it was better than sitting there and continuing to butt heads with his head coach, which would disrupt the team.

By walking away, Draymond Green stopped the situation from getting worse, which probably explains why his team continued to battle against the Orlando Magic and win.
Draymond Green and Warriors return to winning ways
That three-game winning streak ended when the Golden State Warriors, despite leading for much of the game, could not keep pace with the Toronto Raptors in overtime and lost.

They took the lessons from that game and went to work against the struggling Brooklyn Nets. After falling behind in the first quarter, the visitors took control in the second session and never looked back. They even put the pedal to the metal in the fourth quarter to ensure there was no repeat of the Raptors’ late comeback that pushed the game into overtime.
Draymond Green did not play more than 25 minutes, as Steve Kerr took the opportunity to mix and match his players, giving many bench players enough minutes to get back into rhythm.
The plan worked, with most of the Warriors finishing the game with a positive +/-, which indicates that their contribution in those restricted moments was good enough to win. The team will end their three-game road trip with a trip to Charlotte.
