Draymond Green tags himself “Best defender ever”; Steve Kerr reacts to his opinion

Steve Kerr and Draymond Green
The Golden State Warriors have a rich history. Everyone was praised the team once at least during their prime. One of their successful player is Draymond Green. He has been one of the most self-confident and hyped player on the Dubs roster. During their golden years, the front-court guard was major support in the starting line-up. He was one of the best defender with multiple DPOY titles. Even in the last season, he managed to get some wins for the franchise despite the fact the team had tanked down. Now, the veteran Draymond Green has coined himself the best defender in the NBA. Steve Kerr took a shot on this statement.
Draymond Green has always been vocal. He is even famous for his controversial statements and technical foul worth taunts. Recently, Green tagged himself “best defender to ever play in the NBA.” Dray is a player who has always talked of his legacy and never seem to take criticisms positively. Despite his comment, a lot of fans have come in favor of it. Head coach Steve Kerr also feels that Dray deserves this stature.
Steve Kerr favours Draymond Green’s statement
The GSW head coach revealed that he definitely seconded Green’s comment.
He said, “The beauty of Draymond is, he doesn’t care. Go ahead, make your list, I learned a lot about Draymond in my first couple of years in coaching. One thing I learned about him is that he has so much belief in himself, another reason he has made it this far and done as well as he can… If he makes you uncomfortable with something that he says, adds only fuel to the fire. That’s part of who he is. He wants to convince himself that he’s the greatest defender of all time, and that’s huge.”
The Dubs have been suffering this season. However, Green feels he deserves much more attention with the statement. Many former players have even jumped in to criticize Green’s narcissist comment. Just as Tony Allen used Jay-Z’s rap lyrics to show how Draymond might not yet deserve the accolade, the veteran clamped down on him. He retaliated with his previous glories. This statement is still a lot controversial. Especially when Green has had a good and subtle approach to defense.
