There is no doubting the fact that Derrick Rose wore the Chicago Bulls on his sleeve. However, the efforts of a certain Michael Jordan made the franchise a global iconic entity.
Even though the Los Angeles Lakers happen to be the most popular franchise of all time, fans cannot resist the temptation of getting some of that red, white, and black merchandise, especially if it has His Airness’ name on it.
The heights of that popularity have seen some criminal gangs use Bulls Jordan merchandise as their identifiers. Even President Donald Trump’s administration has used that Intel to capture them.
Some would argue that it is the six championships that have made Michael Jordan the symbol of Chicago. But one current player disagrees.
There’s not one bigger person in the city of Chicago than Derrick Rose. Make no mistake about it… D Rose is everything to the city of Chicago. Listen, with all due respect to MJ, I love MJ. We all wanted to be like Mike. Mike doesn’t mean more to the city of Chicago than Derrick Rose.
Draymond Green said on his show
The Golden State Warriors star supported this bizarre opinion by stating that Derrick Rose can alter the actions of communities in Chicago, something he does not believe Michael Jordan could.

Then Draymond Green stated that in the years after Jordan retired, the city’s residents hailed the former league MVP for saving the Bulls. That has separated him from the other Bulls’ great, which deservedly led to his jersey being retired.
Michael Jordan seemingly confirms Draymond Green’s opinion on Derrick Rose
Draymond Green’s opinion quickly gained steam on social media, with many trolling the Warriors star for making such an assumption. However, to his benefit, it seems Michael Jordan seemingly agrees with him.

Derrick, congratulations on the retirement of your jersey. Very happy for you. You had an unbelievable career. You really represent the city of Chicago and the Chicago Bulls… I’m very proud of you and very happy for your special night. Looking forward to coming to the United Center and seeing your jersey hanging up there with my jersey.

The 62-year-old saying that Derrick Rose represents the Bulls and the city of Chicago is proof, as the GOAT probably knows it better than anyone, what the local lad means for his fellow Windy City natives.

Jordan might have been the one to elevate the Bulls and the NBA to become global icons, but it seems the 37-year-old, whose jersey has been retired, is the true symbol of that city.
LeBron James gives Derrick Rose his flowers on jersey retirement
Even though many might have contradicting opinions on Derrick Rose’s impact on the city of Chicago, they will likely be united in agreeing that the point guard was a great player.
Nothing but respect and a humble fear going against D-Rose. His talent, his speed, his athleticism, his craftiness, his mind. It’s no surprise, he still is the youngest MVP in NBA history. The guy was just simply that great.
LeBron James said via video conference
This was LeBron James giving his former teammate the flowers he deserved. There was a time when many felt that the 6’ 3” guard was going to take the mantle away from the King as the league’s best player.

If not for injuries, he may have realised that potential sometime down the line. James knew what Rose brought to the table, and despite his injury struggles, later wanted to team up with the Illinois native to fight for a title.
