Draymond Green blowing game-tying layup with Warriors’ playoff spot on the line has fans livid: “How does an NBA player miss this?”
Draymond Green and his Golden State Warriors had to win the last game against the Los Angeles Clippers to secure a playoff spot.

Draymond Green's missed layup costs Golden State Warriors playoff spot
The Golden State Warriors had one task and one task only heading into their regular season finale against the Los Angeles Clippers. Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler and the rest of their teammates had to win the game at all costs to ensure they remain in a playoff spot.
The Warriors knew off the bat that it was not going to be easy. Those Clippers were 6-0 this month and were one of the best teams in all of basketball. Their newfound form meant, the Warriors had to dig deep to win at home.
The first half saw the two sides going back-and-forth in trying to grab the lead. That competitiveness again continued at full speed as both teams battled to send the game into overtime. In those extra minutes, both teams traded buckets along with some strong defense from Green and others.
With forty seconds to go, Steph Curry received the ball and dribbled into the opposing half. A screen later he switched to the other side but was swarmed by two Clippers. He threw the ball to Gary Payton II that instantly caught the attention of Kawhi Leonard.
Payton II saw that Draymond Green was open and threw the ball to him. The Defensive Player of the Year candidate saw Leonard switching back to him and threw his body into the Clippers star while attempting the layup. That layup did not even have the momentum to bounce onto the rim.

Green expended most of his already fatigued self in trying to draw a foul. That led to the weak layup which the Clippers grabbed and continued to the other end of the court. That layup could have tied the game. Instead, the Warriors lost 119-124 to end up in 7th place.
Fans fume after Draymond Green’s mindless layup
7th place means the Golden State Warriors miss out on a playoff spot they could have secured with a win. Now that missed layup will force the team to endure another battle in two days. Fans believe Draymond Green might have cost the Warriors a chance at a decent playoff run.
Even if they finish 7th, a tired Warriors team will face a well-rested and young Houston Rockets. If they finish 8th, they will have to face another well-rested team in the Oklahoma City Thunder. Fans believe Green missing that wide-open layup was the least professional thing he could do. Check out examples of those comments below.

The Warriors now hope their form is better than that of the Memphis Grizzlies who they play on the 15th. If they win that game, they can still get four days of much needed rest. Green, Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler and the rest of the players are struggling with fatigue.
Green admits he messed up
Draymond Green is one of those few players in the league who does not apologize for his mistakes. He always goes back at the source and continues to harp at the either the officials, fans or opponents. But this time, he knew he messed up.

The 35-year-old at least acknowledging to Anthony Slater and the reporters gathered inside the Warriors media room indicates he knows he cost his team. They could have enjoyed six days of rest and prepared to face the Los Angeles Lakers. Instead, they now have other goals to complete to stay in the playoffs.
