Draymond Green boldly claims Knicks won’t make NBA Finals in next 3 years despite assembling impressive team

Draymond Green does not believe that the new Knicks will make it to finals

The New York Knicks players and fans were over the moon as the team recruited Mikal Bridges to join his college teammates Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo. The trade was seen as an incredible strategy considering Bridges’ defensive skills and the players’ potential chemistry. But that does not seem to be the popular verdict as Draymond Green does not have faith in the team.

The reunion of all four Villanova Wildcats is something many have been looking forward to including the Warriors’ Draymond Green. However, the forward is not onboard about the team’s championship potential. During the recent episode of the Draymond Green Show, the host gave a straightforward answer after getting asked if the Knicks will make it to the finals in the next three years.

No. I do not think so.

Green started the topic with high praise for the team. Considering the improvement in the team’s defense since Bridges’ arrival, Green does not want to face them in the regular season. Green stated that the team will be tough and even expects them to be the top seed in the East. However, the forward has doubts about the team getting ‘over the hump’.

Green’s statement could be proven wrong considering the Knicks’ run this season. The team almost made it to the ECF but fell short during a crucial time. With Bridges’ addition, the chances of the Knicks will be doubled as the injured players will also make a comeback. All eyes will be on the team’s next season as the roster has many critics to disprove.

Skip Bayless also does not see the new Knicks as a threat

This season the Knicks lost the chance to face the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals by one game. The Indiana Pacers won Game 7 to break the tie and qualify further. But the team is now improved with Bridges joining the roster. However, similar to Green, Skip Bayless also does not see the Knicks as a threat to the reigning champions.

After the Knicks traded for Bridges, the hosts of the Fox’s Undisputed were discussing whether the Knicks are a threat to the Celtics. Bayless who is known for his controversial takes, rated the threat as only a “2.” The host admitted the enjoying the incredible skills of the team but stated that they are not enough to beat the Celtics.

Because as much as I enjoyed watching the Knicks, rooting for the Knicks, they got great grit and fire, spunk and hustle and loose ball urgency, and all that good stuff. All those intangibles, I just don’t love the tangibles enough. I don’t love the supreme talent enough.

Bayless also praised the team’s defense but believes that the Celtics’ defense is superior. Boston’s defense was one of the main reasons the team won the championship. Hence, Bayless is right to some extent but it is hard to make judgments before watching the new Knicks.
