“Most organizations ain’t loyal!” Draymond Green calls out Clippers for unfair treatment of ‘legend’ Paul George

When Paul George joined the Los Angeles Clippers, many had high expectations for the player. Despite not making the NBA Finals, George contributed immensely to the Clippers. He also stepped up during the times Kawhi Leonard was out injured. Hence, many believed that the team would not let go of star anytime soon. However, that was not the case at all.

The Clippers letting Paul George go has not made many furious, including the Warriors star Draymond Green. On a recent episode of his podcast, the four-time champion called out the organization for unfair treatment of the ‘best Clippers of all-star.’ Green also defended George from fans from disloyalty claims as he explained about how the league works.

He's one of the best players in your organization's history. I just don't really want to hear people saying like, 'That guy wasn't loyal.'.... Nah, most of these organizations ain't loyal... This is not a loyal business.

Green further explained that some teams did not let the players do what they thought was best for them. Hence, disloyalty should not be an accusation against George, as the team did not consider his desires. According to Green, George wanted to join the Warriors, but the Clippers were unwilling to do the trade. Then, the star had no choice but to enter free agency and join the Philadelphia 76ers.

The George and Kawhi Leonard era came to an end earlier than expected. Despite taking the team to its first Western Conference finals, the duo could not achieve anything further. Nevertheless, Paul George certainly did his best for the team, and for that, the star could have received a better farewell from the organization.

Draymond Green understood the Clippers decision despite wanting Paul George

The Warriors eyed George for a long time as they wanted to recruit the star if Klay Thompson decided to leave. According to reports, the other part of the dynasty, Green and Stephen Curry, were ‘on board‘ for George joining the Warriors. However, the Clippers did not want Golden State to get a piece of their star despite George’s interest in the team.

As Green called out the organization for their treatment of George, the former defensive player of the year also understood the decision. The Clippers and Warriors are not only conference competitors but happen to be division rivals as well. The trade would have benefitted the Warriors as the team was unwilling to send Jonathan Kuminga in the exchange.

I kind of understand it. I suppose you don't want him in the same division as you 'cause you may know how that looks if he comes with us.

It is safe to say that the Clippers’ fears did not come to life as George decided to join an Eastern Conference team instead. However, the team certainly needs better plans for protecting their record this season. It will be interesting to see how the Clippers replace or make up for their second essential scorer on the roster.
