Draymond Green CALLS OUT D’Angelo Russell for scoring 0 points and ignoring team huddle
D-Lo may have just given up on the Lakers.
D'Angelo Russell and Draymond Green
With the Los Angeles Lakers down 0-3 against the Nuggets, fans as well as critics have been questioning the cause of such a disaster. D’Angelo Russell had all the fingers pointed at him after his poor Game 1 performance. However, in Game 2, he redeemed himself, after shooting over 66% from deep. Following that, Russell went scoreless in Game 3, and he was then heavily criticized.
In the recent episode of Draymond Green‘s podcast, the Warriors star discussed Russell ignoring the team huddle and his disastrous performance in Game 3. It seemed as if D-Lo gave up when he ignored the team huddle during a timeout.
Zero points last night. 0-7 from the field, 0-6 from three. Little disappointed in D-Lo not being a part of the huddle... After the second half of the season that D-Lo had, it's unfortunate to see this... So when you come into these playoff series, yeah you may not have a Game 1 or a great Game 3. But it's a seven-game series so if you stay locked in, you get more opportunities... When you let go of the rope, it's a tough one. And right now it looks like the rope has been let go.Draymon Green said
Russell did seem to have given up following the Game 3 loss. Coming into the playoffs, Russell was one of the primary shooters, leading the team from the 9th seed to the 7th seed. After Game 2, as the Lakers came back home, D-Lo had quite some expectations on his shoulders. At worst, no one would have expected Russell to go scoreless in such a crucial game.
Stephen A. Smith was not happy with D’Angelo Russell’s performance
As everyone poured their hate towards Russell, the well-known critics weren’t late to the discussion. LeBron James and Anthony Davis have done the most for the team. The duo is averaging over 58 points per game while shooting 59% from the field altogether.
However, the duo cannot win it all by themselves. The Lakers assets include Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, D-Lo, and others. Still, the production from each of them has been well below the team’s expectations.
D'Angelo Russell, what a disgrace, an embarrassment... It's hard to look at this brother. This brother showed up in a game as a starting point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers... This is probably the most-story franchise in basketball and did a donut.said Stephen A Smith on First Take
As they look forward to avoid a sweep, the Lakers will likely make a few adjustments to the roster. Winning Game 4 will be a must in other aspects as well. A second sweep in the playoffs facing the Nuggets will heavily impact the Lakers’ image. However, they’ll have to optimize their roster or starting five to avoid the same.
