- Draymond Green criticized fans for creating narratives based on a single poor performance.
- Steve Kerr emphasized the importance of maintaining Draymond's spirits during challenging times.
- Warriors owner Joe Lacob confirmed Draymond Green was never part of trade discussions during the deadline.
Draymond Green knows fans and analysts are out to find ways to criticize him, while never talking about how his contributions helped his Golden State Warriors build a dynasty. With age, and of course his antics over the years, those criticisms have grown louder. Even though he apologizes far more than he ever did, it does not change the narratives.
The Michigan native even took the bold step of confronting Skip Bayless on his podcast, but did not have much to say when the analyst came out with receipts to back up his claims. However, there are times when certain conversations seem manufactured, such as one that caught his eye on the social media platform Threads after their home loss to the Boston Celtics.
Lol, funny y’all showed one shot (laughing emoticons). Push the narrative baby!! Push harder.
Draymond Green wrote
The narrative in question was when an account that goes by the name ‘ballbound’ posted a photo and a video clip of the Celtics leaving Draymond Green wide open for a three-point shot.

The page suggested that the play is indicative of the Warriors’ struggles with Stephen Curry sidelined. The 6’6″ forward, on the other hand, felt that this page was just trying to find something to push their narrative.
After all, throughout the rest of the game, the Celtics did not leave him that wide open, even though he could not convert a single one of his seven shot attempts.
Steve Kerr wants Draymond Green to ‘keep his spirits up’
After that zero-point performance, it was natural that, other than narrative-seeking trolls, reporters too would try to figure out if Draymond Green was struggling with something.

It was a rough game for him… I’ve talked about this occasionally this year. How you approach the latter stages of your career as a player is so important… It’s so important that he keeps his spirits up.
Steve Kerr said
This was the Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr, who felt that his primary playmaker and defensive stalwart had the right mindset throughout the game.
“I’ve got to do a better job helping Draymond.”

Steve Kerr addressed Draymond Green’s struggles last night and talked where he’s at in his career:

However, it was ‘rough,’ and in such times, it is important for the said player to keep his ‘spirits’ up. Kerr mentioned that he and his coaching staff would try to help their star forward if he needed anything that can help him shed this disappointing game and move on.
The reporter asking this question started by asking if Draymond Green’s struggles had anything to do with the trade deadline and whatever transpired then.
However, Kerr did not touch the subject, even though there is a feeling that the 4-time champion might be struggling with the thought that the franchise could have shipped him away.
Warriors owner dismisses Draymond Green trade rumors
This past trade deadline, Draymond Green was the most talked-about name once the Golden State Warriors were linked with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Eventually, nothing transpired, and instead, they traded for Kristaps Porzingis. Now, according to franchise owner Joe Lacob, the Michigan Spartan was not even part of trade discussions.
He was never discussed in a trade… But I can tell you he was never shopped in any way. He’s a core person in our franchise. You don’t trade a Draymond Green simply or easily.
Joe Lacob told The San Francisco Standard
While speaking with Tim Kawakami, Lacob also pointed out that it is not that a player of Green’s stature cannot be traded. It is just that for that to happen, the other aspects involved in the trade have to be of that importance.
Otherwise, you do not let go of a player who has been a core factor in their success and, despite his advancing age, has not slowed to the point where he is no longer effective.
