Draymond Green entered Game 2 of the first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, knowing it was not going to be easy. The home team was going to use their Game 1 embarrassment to fuel a charge to try to win against the Golden State Warriors and level the series.

Without Steph Curry leading their offense, the Warriors were expected to struggle. That expectation turned into reality when the home team jumped into a lead. With nearly nine minutes left in the second quarter, Draymond Green had the ball in his hands.

Naz Reid was guarding closely, and he poked the ball out of Green’s hands. When the former DPOY understood he had turned the ball over, he flailed his arms and legs, trying to flop and draw a foul. In doing so, his left hand hit Reid in the face, and officials hit Green with a foul.

This incensed the 35-year-old, and he aggressively went after officials, trying to argue his case. Soon, a technical foul followed, but he was not letting up. Even the injured Steph Curry had to calm Green down. After their blowout loss, The Athletic’s Anthony Slater asked him for a reaction to that incident.

I’m not an angry Black man. I’m a very successful, educated Black man with a great family. I’m great at basketball, I’m great at what I do. The agenda to keep making me look like an angry Black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous.

Draymond Green said

As per this reply, it seems Draymond Green believes everyone is out to make him look like the ‘Angry Black Man’. Going by that logic, he might think that the officials want to project him that way, as do most of the opposing fans.

Wolves fans allegedly call Draymond Green the B-word

There was a moment in game 2 when Draymond Green was working out on an exercise bike near the tunnel. A fan shared that video clip while the game was in session. It shows Green continuously pedaling on the bike while also arguing with some Minnesota Timberwolves fans.

The fan who posted this video wrote a caption that suggested one of those Wolves fans called Green the B-word. That is when the four-time champion retaliated, even calling the fan ‘soft’ in trying to get back at him.

Police and other security staff were watching this unfold, but they could not do anything unless the situation got out of hand. However, one staff member walked over and tried to calm the fans down. This happened right beside the media booth.

It is unknown if this incident triggered Green, but these two situations have combined to place Green in a very tight spot. He is standing at five technical fouls, which means the Golden State Warriors might end up playing a game without him if he reaches seven.

Steve Kerr not worried about mounting technical fouls

The last time Draymond Green was suspended for a playoff game, it invariably helped LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the 2016 NBA Finals. He is on a similar path, where two more technical fouls can get him suspended for 1 game. But Steve Kerr does not seem to be worried.

It’s part of Draymond. The same thing that makes him such a competitor and a winner, puts him over the top sometimes. We know that. It’s our job to help him stay poised, stay composed. But the competition is so meaningful to him that occasionally he goes over the line.

Steve Kerr said

Going by Kerr’s words, it seems he was backing his player. That is because the reporter asking the question tried to frame it as if Green had lost control after managing to stay calm and composed in the last two games.

The Golden State Warriors won both those games. They also tend to lose, as they did today, when the Michigan native resorts to such antics. It seems that is what he was referring to, as in, there are people out there trying to paint him as a negative character, just so that the game can tilt in their direction.
