Now appearing to have turned a new leaf, Green is confident that he can lead the Warriors to a better place this season, and his defense has been a key factor in the team’s 4-1 start. And his role has taken on even more importance with the departure of Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks.

Fans of the Dubs will be pleased to know that he has risen to the challenge, as he is currently averaging 6.0 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game. Interestingly, the team’s defense is currently ranked second in the league, and Green’s play has been instrumental in their success.

Draymond Green shines in back-to-back matchups against Zion Williamson

With the new season currently underway, the Golden State Warriors have faced a tough test in back-to-back games against the New Orleans Pelicans, but true to his commitment, Draymond Green rose to the challenge. Despite playing without Stephen Curry due to an ankle injury.

In the absence of their Baby Faced Assassin, the Warriors secured two wins and improved their record to 4-1. Speaking about the contest, he admitted that it was not the easiest of assignments for him having to stop their talisman, Zion Williamson.

It hurts. He’s gotten so much better over the last, what, first four years of his career.

When both teams met for the first time this season, Williamson had 31 points and eight rebounds. But Green was ready for the second meet as he made adjustments and helped to hold him to 12 points on 5-of-20 shooting.

It was a great outing for the veteran as he also stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, six assists, five blocks, and one steal in the 104-89 win, and even earned praise from his head coach. The Warriors’ next game is on Saturday against the Houston Rockets when Green will likely face a new challenge in Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Sengun.
