The Golden State Warriors power forward, Draymond Green, has never shied away from bold opinions and it was no different when he named the five quarterbacks he would want to build a franchise around. The list included three second-year quarterbacks while leaving out the defending NFL MVP and the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen.

Speaking with Jordan Schultz, Green named Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and Bo Nix.

Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Jayden Daniels. I would go Drake Maye four. Five, I’m on the fence of going Bo Nix. I think Bo Nix is good, man.

While Mahomes and Jackson have established themselves in the league with Super Bowls and unanimous MVPs, the rest three are new to the league. Daniels, Maye, and Nix belong to the Draft Class of 2024 and was drafted by the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, and Denver Broncos.

Jayden Daniels made waves last year as a leading dual-threat QB when he took the Commanders to their first conference game in decades. Meanwhile, Nix and the Broncos ended a long playoffs drought, qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since winning the title with Peyton Manning. Although, the Patriots were quite bad last year, Maye sparked hope in Massachusetts and he has been delivering this year with splendid performances.

However, the absence of Allen was quite noticeable and Schultz did point it out. The host even made a point to add that Allen is a constant name in such lists. Green, however, couldn’t be more sure of what he said. He claimed that he believed Josh Allen proved that he is not a winning quarterback.

I just don’t think he’s the guy. Bo Nix still hasn’t proven he’s not the guy. Josh Allen has proven he’s not the guy.

Draymond Green was never a big fan of Josh Allen

The four-time NBA champion was never someone who spoke highly of Josh Allen. Green, in his conversation with Jordan Schultz a month ago, made similar claims about Allen while undermining his talents.

The Buffalo Bills had defeated the Baltimore Ravens in one of the best comebacks of the season in Week 1. Allen played a huge role in championing their comeback from a huge deficit. However, Green, while addressing the game, mentioned that while Allen may do it in the regular season, he projected that it won’t be the same when it matters, that is, Allen won’t win a Super Bowl. He had said:

Just because he’s a damn good quarterback, that doesn’t make him the guy. He’s never gonna get it done when it matters the most. I don’t care how Herculean of a comeback effort you have at home in Week 1, he’s never gonna be the guy that’s gonna come out and win a championship and be the guy when it matters the most. He’s not the guy!

Josh Allen did reach the AFC Championship game last year but failed to defeat the eventual runners-up Kansas City Chiefs. He couldn’t get the team to the Super Bowl, and until he does, Green might probably not back out of his opinion.

Allen is a spirited athlete and yearns for a Super Bowl as much as any ambitious NFL athlete. However, Allen hasn’t responded to the claims Green made before, and it’s unlikely that he will respond to the new list either.
