Even though LeBron James will not move out of the Los Angeles Lakers before the upcoming trade deadline, there is a growing belief that he could leave the team during the next offseason.
From the time he picked up his $54 million player option, to his injury, and then after returning, struggling to score in double digits, which seemingly led the Lakers into a downward spiral, fans and many in the media have been critical.
They believe that James has negatively affected the chemistry that was brimming between Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, and that the situation would only improve if the Akron native were to leave in some manner.
Then came a bombshell report that Lakers’ governor Jeanie Buss pretty much felt the same way. Since then, many have stressed that James’ relationship with the franchise may be over.
One things for certain. I don’t care if LeBron James has one leg, the Cleveland Cavaliers should and could and better always better be willing to have him come back there and put on a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey. Cause it’s so much bigger than basketball.
Draymond Green said on his show
This was the Warriors star’s reference to Dave McMenamin‘s article that claimed that the Cleveland Cavaliers are open to bringing LeBron James back whenever he wants to retire.

Draymond Green reiterated that, contrary to all the suggestions of the mess within the Lakers, finishing with the franchise where his journey started would be the best way to hang up his sneakers.
Rich Paul outlines how much of an impact LeBron James has had on Cleveland
There was a time when the Cleveland Cavaliers were in the doldrums, and not one basketball fan bothered about the franchise, especially with big market teams such as the Lakers, Knicks, and Celtics being talked about.
It’s one thing to change the basketball team, it’s a whole other thing to change the economy… Everyone came to Cleveland. Cleveland became the Hollywood of the Midwest because of LeBron.
Rich Paul said on the Game Over Podcast
The super agent was not speaking just because he is LeBron James‘ friend, but pointed out how going to the playoffs every year changed the lives of the city’s economy.

The city’s fans may have burned his jersey when the Akron native left the franchise, tried to attack him, and also threw batteries at him and booed him when he came back wearing a Miami Heat jersey.
But it has been several years since, and the franchise and the fans have not forgotten the 2016 NBA championship that brought the city its first professional title in a long time. All of that is why LeBron James is still their most important superstar.
LeBron James could head to Cleveland if Lakers want to part ways
Jeanie Buss might have rebuked the ESPN article’s claims that she was unhappy with LeBron James and his circle, but there is a strong belief that Baxter Holmes wrote exactly what has been talked about behind closed doors.

If those feelings continue to hold and, for some reason, the blame falls on the 41-year-old for any lack of success this season, there is a chance they may not offer him another contract.
In an ideal world, basketball fans would like it if the four-time league MVP retires as a Laker, but if the franchise prefers to allocate the $50 plus million he will command to sign others, then James could look to finish out his career with his hometown team.
Again, it all depends on how the Cavaliers play this season. They are nowhere near the heights they achieved in the first part of last season, and it seems they need someone to give them a jolt. Maybe the prodigal son becomes that spark the franchise needs, again.
