New Orleans Saints fans are proud that their team has their name in Super Bowl-winning heritage. One of the men they are thankful for bringing that Vince Lombardi trophy home is former quarterback Drew Brees.
His accomplishments with the team are legendary and have changed the culture to that of a winning one. Today, during the game against the Denver Broncos, they honored his legacy.
The franchise decided to induct the 45-year-old into their Hall of Fame at halftime in front of a packed Caesars Superdome. After he walked out to much fanfare, he was introduced to the crowd by the owner Gayle Benson.
Then, after thanking the crowd for being there for him throughout his 16 years with the franchise, he decided to take it one step forward. He brought back something from his Super Bowl-winning year.

Drew Brees started chanting the same chant he used to shout to his teammates that year. The crowd acknowledged and followed him every step of the way. Quite a response, considering their admiration for the player who ensured the team was synonymous with winning football and the playoffs.
Signing with the New Orleans Saints in 2006 changed the landscape of the franchise. He and then HC Sean Payton led the team to nine playoff seasons out of the fifteen he played for them. Quite a remarkable return for their belief in him. He gave up his right arm for the franchise, for which the fans are still appreciative.
Drew Brees’ day ruined by New Orleans Saints’ horrific performance
They chose this game so Sean Payton could be a part of Drew Brees’ historic night. But the team did their own legend dirty with the way they played the game.
When the 45-year-old was enshrined into the Hall of Fame, the New Orleans Saints were already down 3-16. That is when he broke out the chant, hoping it would rile up both the fans as well as the players.
As soon as they returned to play in the second half, the teams’ struggles became evident. The Denver Broncos scored ten straight points unanswered, pushing the deficit to nearly more than three scores. Not an easy task with a rookie QB throwing passes to second-string receivers. Brees’ face showed his disappointment as the team collectively crumbled in front of him.
Not even their stud defense could do anything about the Denver Broncos. Their star pass rush could not even sack rookie QB Bo Nix once throughout the game, giving their former head coach a blowout win on the road.
