Amidst the brouhaha of a raucous Backlash PLE, Drew Gulak‘s name was the epicenter of discord at the post-show presser. Not that long ago, former UFC ace Ronda Rousey levied some heinous allegations on the 37-year-old. She claimed that there was one instance when she was in the hallway and Gulak just casually pulled the strings of her sweatpants passing by.
The wrestler in question also cleared up his side while asserting that it was merely an accident. In an update from Fightful Select, Drew Gulak didn’t have the best of reputations backstage. Those who the outlet spoke to in NXT outright affirmed that he was a bully. The Legal Eagle used to target talent in matches who had minor injuries.
An anonymous name claimed that while he was wrestling Drew, the latter advertently re-dislocated his finger. Another one stressed on Gulak’s penchant for dissuading fellow talent from reporting such incidents. The report further added that the Philadelphia native was once verbally reprimanded by Shawn Michaels and NXT coaches for intentionally spiking during a match.
Another source close to the situation underscored Drew’s queer stance in the sense that he’d often test his colleagues to see how they would react to his bullying. Yesterday, at the Backlash post-show press conference, WWE CCO Triple H was asked about Gulak’s standing with the company.
The question also included the University City Stretcher’s notorious incident with Ronda Rousey. Aiming a dig at the media outlets that reported that the controversial name was released in the wake of Rousey’s allegations, The Game refuted. He went on to say that Gulak’s contract was simply not renewed, and he’s been let go.
Was Ronda Rousey responsible for getting Drew Gulak on the verge of firing?
It would be amiss to not credit Ronda Rousey for the fate of Drew Gulak. In their reporting as above, Fightful confirmed that The Rowdy One’s remarks did indeed lodge a probe into the entire incident.
Per some of the names Fightful spoke to in NXT, the former Cruiserweight Champion publicly responding to Ronda exacerbated his woes. However, it wasn’t the sole determining factor in not renewing his WWE contract. Despite floating rumors that he has been released, Gulak is still under a deal with WWE.
But the promotion recently relayed the word to him that they’d not be re-signing him once his agreement ends next month. It would be interesting to see if he makes any on-screen appearances in whatever is left on his employment letter.
