This week on SmackDown, Drew McIntyre was advertised to reveal the match types of his Three Stages of Hell showdown with Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title next Friday in Berlin. Once Rhodes got in the ring, McIntyre appeared on the jumbotron, which showed that he was standing backstage. The Scot mocked the champ for being predictable like his promos.

‘The Chosen One’ said he put a lot of thought into finalizing those three stipulations so that he could physically break the former AEW EVP. McIntyre mentioned how the late great father of the current WWE Champion, Dusty Rhodes, made the 2-out-of-3 falls match famous. Drew McIntyre, however, wanted to up the ante.

Next week on SmackDown, Rhodes and McIntyre will first have a crack at each other in a straight-up wrestling match in order to prove who’s the better wrestler. McIntyre was confident about the referees not screwing him up this time around owing to what happened with Dan Engler a few months ago. The second stage would be a Falls Count Anywhere match.

‘The Scottish Psychopath’ affirmed that Rhodes could DDT him on the WWE title but added that the ‘QB1’ should be prepared to get clobbered by any weapon that McIntyre might use to his advantage. Last but not least, these men will have an old-school steel cage match if they share points after the first two falls.

The Ayr-born wrestler revealed that he intruded on Rhodes’ tour bus and found a photo frame of a young Cody Rhodes posing with his WWE Hall of Fame-inducted dad. McIntyre dastardly smashed it on the floor and immediately followed up with a stomp. ‘The American Nightmare’ knew his opponent had crossed the line, so he went after the former 3MB member.

Rhodes, however, encountered heavy security backstage, which was deployed by Nick Aldis to avoid any physical contact between Rhodes and McIntyre. While the erstwhile Stardust was arguing with the security personnel and Aldis, McIntyre had slid into the ring out of nowhere with a trash can in front of him.

The Scot’s plan of instigating Rhodes to hit him almost paid off, but the security personnel swarmed the champ once again to preclude a brawl, which, had it happened, would’ve resulted in Rhodes being stripped of the Undisputed WWE title.

The closing sequence of the aforementioned segment saw McIntyre setting that photo of Cody and Dusty on fire in front of a restless ‘American Nightmare’, who was made to watch all that. ‘The Chosen One’ ultimately dumped the ablaze photo into the trash can.

Trick Williams’ flashing SmackDown appearance gets a Sami Zayn warning

After being off TV for a while, Sami Zayn showed up on this week’s SmackDown and made his intentions about chasing the WWE Championship in 2026 crystal clear. It hit him in the feels when his son asked the Canuck why he hasn’t won the world title even once. This conversation happened when Zayn was sitting front row with his son for John Cena’s last match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

‘The Underdog from the Underground’ didn’t really have a satisfactory explanation as to why he has never been a world champion just yet. The Syrian-descent wrestler vowed to finally make it happen this year after having repeatedly talked about it for the last year or more. Zayn was eventually interrupted by former NXT Champion Trick Williams, who formally introduced himself to the veteran wrestler.

Williams labeled himself as the most entertaining, the most athletic, and the most dangerous man in this business. The 31-year-old revealed that he ended up on SmackDown because Nick Aldis wanted him to be a part of the blue brand, as he was exactly what the show had been missing. ‘Tricky 2-time’ claimed that Aldis was looking for a tall, dark, and handsome man who could challenge for the WWE Championship.

The South Carolina native further aimed a dig at Sami Zayn by mocking him as someone who has time and again fallen short when it mattered the most. ‘The Great Liberator’ ultimately retorted by asserting that ‘Trick Willy’ was yet to be humbled. Zayn said Williams wasn’t the first of his kind to walk through those ropes and look down on him.

But since ‘Hollywood Trick’ talked trash about him, Zayn affirmed that he didn’t have any problem teaching him a lesson or two. It appears that these men will soon get in the ring with each other. Next Friday on SmackDown, Williams will take on Rey Fenix in his first match since officially becoming a part of the SmackDown roster.
