The rivalry between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest took a brutal turn on last week’s episode of SmackDown. During a parking lot brawl, Priest delivered a South of Heaven Chokeslam on McIntyre onto a car windshield. Following the show, McIntyre revealed that “real glass” had gotten into his eye. Later, PWInsider reported that McIntyre had suffered a legitimate eye injury. In a recent appearance, McIntyre was spotted wearing an eye patch.
In a clip posted on the WWE UK account, McIntyre donned the new eye patch look while advertising a special edition Rangers championship. Despite being hurt, the former WWE Champion didn’t hesitate to take a shot at his rival, CM Punk. McIntyre boldly asserted that Rangers was the most successful football club of all time. As for the injury, McIntyre looked unfazed as he gloated about pulling off signing the title while wearing an eye patch.
Although reports confirmed this injury, this new look by McIntyre could be to sell the attack on SmackDown. After weeks of blindsiding Priest, McIntyre got a taste of his own medicine last Friday. The former Judgment Day member finally got the upper hand, sending a bold statement to the Scottish wrestler.

This feud kickstarted at this year’s Royal Rumble when Damian Priest eliminated McIntyre from the men’s match. History would repeat itself a month later as The Archer of Infamy would once again crush McIntyre’s WrestleMania aspirations inside the Elimination Chamber. In response, Drew McIntyre immediately took out Priest, which led to his elimination.
Is Drew McIntyre ‘happy’ with his WrestleMania position this year?
A year back, Drew McIntyre was at the top of his game, nearing his third world title win at WrestleMania XL. The Scottish Warrior was in the midst of a rivalry with CM Punk, doing the best work of his career. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that McIntyre was reportedly unhappy with his plans for this year’s WrestleMania.

After his Royal Rumble elimination, McIntyre stormed out of the arena, with reports later suggesting he was frustrated with his creative direction. While Priest is arguably a main event talent, McIntyre and most fans believed he deserved better. Although another report claimed that WWE monitored the backlash, McIntyre’s fate was sealed when he was eliminated in a dull manner at Elimination Chamber.
Since then, McIntyre has gone on to verify that he felt he deserved a title match at WrestleMania. As for his match with Priest, McIntyre asked the fans to give them the opportunity to highlight their rivalry before writing it off. After all, the history between the two former world champions goes back way further than this year’s Royal Rumble.
The history between Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest
After becoming World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania XL, Drew McIntyre accomplished his dream of winning the big one in front of live fans. With his family in attendance, McIntyre celebrated this victory for only 5 minutes. The Scottish Warrior made a huge mistake when he relished his joy in front of CM Punk.

Punk retaliated by attacking McIntyre and laying him out with his arm brace. This allowed Damian Priest, the Money in the Bank briefcase holder at the time, to cash in on McIntyre. And just like that, McIntyre was humiliated on The Grandest Stage of Them All. While his obsession with Punk played a major factor, Priest also posed a party spoiler for McIntyre.
If that wasn’t enough, McIntyre failed to recapture the title in a rematch at Clash at the Castle in Scotland. As such, the former WWE Champion is currently 0-2 in big matches against Priest. Having said that, it will be interesting to see if he finally gets a win over the former Judgment Day member at WrestleMania 41.
