Barely a day removed from his WWE title-winning performance in Berlin, Drew McIntyre got the privilege to be in front of his Scottish compatriots for a WWE live event in Glasgow on Saturday night. After retaining the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura, ‘The Chosen One’ cut a rare babyface-leaning promo. As could be seen in the following clip, ‘Big D’ was talking about keeping a promise.
Drew McIntyre said that the locals would’ve probably heard him regurgitate about winning the WWE title and bringing it back to Scotland. When it first happened at WrestleMania 36 in 2020, the entire world had to seek asylum from the pandemic behind closed doors. The Scotsman, however, was grateful for the fact that he held the baton for WWE in such unprecedented times and gave people an escape.

McIntyre mentioned facing repeated disappointment in his pursuit of capturing a world title in a jam-packed arena. The Ayr-born wrestler still didn’t stop believing in himself because of the weird mental conditioning that made him Scottish.
Next, he brought up the turn of events from this week’s SmackDown, where he ousted Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell match after Jacob Fatu‘s interference. McIntyre then relished the fact that the first place he could walk out in front of live fans as the number one wrestler on this planet was Glasgow, where he could fulfill his promise made several years ago.
BodySlam reported that just like they did prior to their match at Wrestlepalooza, both Rhodes and McIntyre pitched to creative for the Undisputed WWE Championship to change hands.

While it didn’t come to fruition the last time around, the company officials pulled the trigger this Friday as they thought it was the right moment. The outlet also claimed that the talent involved in that hellacious main event weren’t notified about the finish until a few hours prior to the match.
WWE ultimately landed on Fatu’s return, inadvertently leading to McIntyre escaping the steel cage to win the championship, even though there were several other pitches also in play at some point.
Mark Henry singles out a major misstep by Cody Rhodes in his WWE title loss to Drew McIntyre
Even though Drew McIntyre could now brag about keeping his word for physically tormenting Cody Rhodes after playing enough mind games with him in recent weeks, the result of that match might’ve swung either way had it not been for Jacob Fatu. The latter appeared at ringside, unmasked himself, and went right after ‘The Scottish Psychopath’.

While Fatu was pounding away on McIntyre, Rhodes pulled Fatu from behind and ended up bearing the brunt of a ticked-off ‘Samoan Werewolf’. That’s the mistake Rhodes made, which Mark Henry flagged while speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast.
‘The World’s Strongest Man’ wondered if ‘The American Nightmare’ should’ve let the assault of Drew McIntyre at the hands of Fatu go on without sticking his nose in business that didn’t belong to him.

The former AEW talent scout said that the ‘QB1’ would’ve probably ended up retaining his Undisputed WWE title by simply escaping the cage. Rhodes, instead, tried breaking up the fight, as that’s what a typical babyface would do in order to keep it by the book. Drew McIntyre, being the villain in the story, seized his moment in that little opening he saw and wisely rolled his lifeless body out of the cage.
Henry, in the aforementioned podcast, asserted that he doesn’t see WWE taking the route of McIntyre working in cahoots with Jacob Fatu. That said, the next thing for which the fans are looking forward is the revelation of Fatu’s mystery attacker, who saw him getting ambushed backstage in October.
The angle was intended to write off the 33-year-old from WWE programming to allow the former US Champion to fix his dental issues.
