CM Punk felt ecstatic following his Bash in Berlin win over Drew McIntyre. The Second City Saint arrived on Raw and announced his intentions to finally go after the world title. Punk called out Gunther, sending a warning to him before celebrating with the live crowd. However, he had an unwelcome surprise lying in wait for him as McIntyre ambushed him from behind.
The Scottish Warrior clearly wasn’t finished with his rival. An agitated McIntyre beat down a defenseless Punk on the announce table. Despite Wade Barrett trying his best to calm down his friend, the former WWE Champion was in no mood to listen to anybody. The relentless attack continued in the ring as McIntyre delivered a Claymore to Punk. If that wasn’t enough, Drew took back Punk’s family bracelet.
Although it initially seemed that he would wear it again, McIntyre surprised the WWE Universe with his next move. The Scotsman broke the bracelet apart. Moreover, he went on to shove the beads down Punk’s throat as the Denver crowd watched on in shock. Several backstage officials and referees tried to separate McIntyre from the Straight Edge Superstar to no avail.
Before leaving the ring, the 39-year-old hit one more Claymore to his rival for good measure. A stretcher was brought out to the ring, as CM Punk seemingly suffered internal injuries. By the looks of it, the Chicagoan will be out of action for a while. As for McIntyre, he will presumably face severe consequences from management for crossing the line on Raw.
How a bracelet fueled an already-heated rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre
Some fans might be curious as to how a $0.50 bracelet became the talking point of arguably the rivalry of the year. Well, for starters, the fan-made item had CM Punk’s dear wife and dog’s name embedded on it. The Second City Saint never left his home without wearing it, showing how much he valued the bracelet.
Therefore, when Drew McIntyre attacked the former AEW star in the latter’s hometown in June, he took advantage of the opportunity to snatch the bracelet. Since then, he’s paraded it out around and used it to take shots at his rival.
At Bash in Berlin, Punk finally got the better of McIntyre, defeating him in a vicious Strap match. If that wasn’t enough, The Straight Edge Superstar had the bracelet back where it belonged: safely on his wrist. Hence, it’s safe to say that McIntyre crossed the line on Raw when he snapped the bracelet apart.
